He seems surprised by the question, unsure of how to answer. He opens his hand, fingers splayed in front of him as if he’s observing them for the first time. I’ve developed a sort of fascination for… his rings? His hands? I’m not sure which one, maybe both, but I’ve found myself silently watching them more often. Wondering what they would look like bare of the accessories. What the unblemished, naked skin would feel like against mine.
“I’ve just never seen you without them,” I add once the silence stretches for too long.
“I like to wear them,” Xie Wang finally replies, but for some reason it doesn’t sound too confident. The silver and gold-plated bands clink together as he moves his individual fingers. “Yifu gifted me them.” This time the words come out quieter.

However, when someone starts killing immortals, the three men decide to hunt down the murderer. Ye Baiyi isn't sure what he's after but when he meets a beautiful, strange young man he's sure of one thing: he's screwed.

No matter that I’d been berating myself for at least seventy of those for being that sad cliché of a worshipper of the Rabbit God falling for a straight man and allowing himself to be used and ignored in turns out of a hopeless, pathetic love
So this was my life now, and I would put up with it as long as Changqing was still with me; I knew the time was finite, so I finally decided to go with the flow. I actually enjoyed sitting by the stove in the evening with him, talking about old times and everything that we’d been through together, reminiscing about when Xuan-er had been little, and even about our time of taking the whole jianghu by storm, when we had been young and so terribly reckless and stupid.
Ye Baiyi reminisces about taking care of his zhiji and great unrequited love Rong Changqing during the last few years, months, weeks of his life.
