Summary
What happens when 'happily ever after' has its own ending?
Jean Moreau had never truly believed in those words. 'Forever' was as much a fantasy as his fourth year at USC had been. It was as much a fantasy as Jeremy himself was. Dreams ended. The sun set. Nothing good lasted, so of course they didn't either. It was best not to hope.
Jeremy Knox did believe in those words, even after so long of having to live one day after another that tried to prove him wrong. Dreams could be made real. The sun always rose. They'd had such a good life and hard times never lasted forever. Hope was the best thing to hold close.
Three years after the End, Jean and Jeremy find themselves on the same professional exy team in Chicago. As past, present, and future collide, they have to confront old wounds and long silences to make the most dangerous decision of their lives: What is worth a second chance?

Summary
The thing about watching the breath leaving a body and knowing that it was your fault is that that moment never leaves you. Through nightmares, through flashbacks, through slots in the fabric of reality where time spills over and soaks into the soles of your feet. It didn’t matter how you justified it, in the end—murder was murder, and the tang of death never truly leaves your tongue.
Still, he couldn’t make himself regret killing. Were he to slip through one of those time slots and find himself in a position to start over again, he would not change the choices he had made.
Except one.
or,
I fucked around (put a gun in Jeremy Knox’s hand) and now we’ll find out (he became a serial killer). Also, Jean Moreau is a detective. All this goes about as well as you'd expect. -

The disembodied voice was low enough to make the hairs on Jeremy’s neck rise, attentive on their twitching toes.

Summary
Jean Moreau knows how to be on his own, even when surrounded by people. After years in the Hatford crime family, he's indispensable and confident in the work he does but he sets it all aside when one of his long-lost brothers calls for help. After all, he has never denied Kevin anything and their old promise to one another results in Jean being stranded in an unfamiliar city with a rambunctious nephew he's never met, a boy who wants nothing to do with him until help comes in the form of a man with a sunshine smile.
Over time, Jean learns what the true meaning of family is by way of eight-year-old Ethan Day-Minyard and his shy but clever best friend Olivia. Even more unanticipated though (and potentially more disastrous) is the connection Jean forms with the children's second-grade teacher, Jeremy Knox, a man who is as thrilling as he is comforting and is as beautiful as he is fierce. A man who soon becomes impossible to walk away from.
When London calls on him to return 'home', Jean is faced with the decision of where (and with whom) his loyalty ultimately resides because, in the end, it was always going to come down to one question in his life: Which family will he choose?

Summary
The Matsumotos was the family that forced the Moriyamas out of Japan in the first place; and now, they are coming for America.
Jeremy Knox had left his past behind, and he was finally free and living his dreams. He was the captain of the Trojans, he had friends that loved him despite knowing about his past. He might even be falling for Jean Moreau, the ex raven that Kevin had entrusted in his care.
But the past would always mattered and when his past came physically knocking at his door, Jeremy had no choice but to answer.

Summary
Did the thought of leaving the Trojans wrack him with guilt? Yes, it did. But did he have a choice? No, he did not. He had tried to stay, he really had, but there are some things that no amount of effort can fix, fears that no amount of coaxing can assuage. There were only so many sleepless nights in the library an athlete on one of the best college teams could afford to spend, only so many questions he could brush past. Even though he could hardly look Aasha in the eye when he broke the news, even though he would never forget the disappointment in Coach Rhenneman’s face when he handed in his contract, there were no two ways about it. He had to leave.
or,
In the aftermath of a certain banquet, Jeremy Knox is certain there is no future for him in California anymore. As luck would have it, another team is more than ready to offer him a position on its lineup—the Edgar Allan Ravens. This goes just about as well as you'd expect.

Summary
“No,” Jean replied. “I’m going back.”
Jeremy pushed the paperwork into Jean’s lap. “We’re a good team. We’ll work with you during your recovery. You’re not gonna have to do anything you—”
Jean brushed the papers onto the floor. “I said no.”

After denying the transfer to USC, Jean thought that was the last time he'd have to talk to Jeremy Knox. Until, five years later, a particularly smiley new striker joins his pro team.

Summary
Jean Moreau is out of time. With his visa expiring soon and the pro hockey team he plays for not looking to renew his contract, he faces the prospect of being deported to France (a fate that is both dangerous for what awaits him there and heartbreaking as it takes him from the only family he has in the States).
Jeremy Knox is struggling and trying his best to hide it behind a smile. With the recent death of his father and the crushing financial hardships of caring for his family, Jeremy has worked himself to the bone for so long that he no longer remembers what it's like to have a moment to just breathe.
They've known each other for years. Jean has always pulled away every time Jeremy tried to reach out, despite how difficult it was to look away. Jeremy has clung to his hope that they could become friends, regardless of how many times Jean doesn't see him.
With them both needing help, the kind that only the other can provide, can they find an agreement that is mutually beneficial to them both? And, if they do, can they stick to it or will playing pretend become too real?

Summary
That was rather odd for anyone in this place, but especially for someone so young. It made Jeremy's stomach drop.
He wondered if the kid was actually dangerous or if he was made to be dangerous. In his opinion, no one was empty like that without cause.
"Well that's good at least, glad you're adjusting well then. I didn't catch your name." Jeremy said, knowing damn well the kid didn't offer it.
"Andrew Doe." The kid, Andrew, said.
Jeremy's face scrunched up. Doe wasn't the most normal of last names. Actually he wasn't sure he had ever heard of it being used as a last name unless it was on tv and the person was unknown.
Seeming to read his thoughts, Andrew sighed and said "foster kid. Didn't enter the system with a last name. They gave me one."
~~~
Jeremy Knox makes a deal to mentor a "problem" child who is new to his juvie in exchange to leave early. When he meets Andrew Doe he realizes there is something the kid isn't sharing, and that he may be more traumatized than the others know.all rights to Nora Sakavic!
Summary
A moment later, Jean reached out gently taking a hold of Jeremy's injured hand. He ran his fingers softly over Jeremy's split and bruising skin.
He said lowly, his gaze tracking his own movements as he held and caressed Jeremy's hand carefully, "I know what evil is. I know what cruel is. I know maliciousness. I know ego. And aggression."
Jeremy hadn't realised that he too was entranced by the way Jean ghosted his fingers over his knuckles until he felt fingers under his chin, tipping his face up gently to look Jean in the eyes.
"It's not you."
“You are Jean Moreau. Your place is here with me, with us. I’m your captain. You’re my partner. We’re supposed to be doing this together, aren’t we? Stop leaving me behind." ♡
I read The Sunshine Court recently, and I haven't been able to get these two out of my head since. Here's an edit I made for Jean and Jeremy. I hope they'll find their happiness in the end. Enjoy!
