An is very popular. Kohane is not. An is very good with people. Kohane is not. An is everyone’s favorite. Kohane would never admit to it, but she hates them all for it. An says she loves Kohane. Kohane is too cowardly to believe her.
Kohane knows An very well. She knows she'll forget her umbrella today, and so Kohane decides to wait outside of her school to surprise her with the excuse that she knows An would've been getting soaked if she didn't show up. Even though they do get to following Kohane's plans of hanging out, An keeps getting distracted by friends from school and some jealous and miserable part of Kohane locks her in a cycle of hating herself and hating An for forgetting her.
But everyone already knew it. Kohane was lucky to have An. As in, actual luck. So she didn't really deserve her, either. -

Kohane looks at her best friend, the one she knew all her life. Her best friend is still the same sweet, considerate, funny, and pretty friend she knew, but at the same time, she seems too far away. At times, Kanade would look at her as if she was a stranger. It wasn't just her. She was like that towards Hiroshi, Kazumi, and Yuuki too. It seemed like Kabuki was the only one who could reach her. Kohane wonders when it all started and wishes that her best friend can confide in her like she did in the past. "Kohane," even Tsukasa, Kanade's own brother, wails. "Does my sister not like me anymore? She doesn't even look at Saki-nee.."
Kohane wonders when Kanade started to build a wall so impossible to break. She secretly fears that she won't be able to reach Kanade anymore.WARNING: STORY CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR 'The Heroine is My Neighbor???

It takes far too long for Kohane to, once again, remember to rip her eyes away. When she does, she pitifully looks back at the laptop they’re both huddled over.
