Summary
Ruzon, the second son of The Dragon of the West, is not a well-known figure in the four nations. Even less so after he supposably dies the same night as his grandfather, Fire Lord Azulon. With the world believing him dead, Ruzon doesn't have to worry about wanted posters or being hunted by his murderous uncle.
Up until the circus he was living with is burnt down and a feral boy finds him in the ashes.
Or
Rue escaped the Fire Nation. He escaped his murderous uncle. For a while, he convinced himself that it was enough. That in this life he’d surely make it to adulthood. But in his new world such a term is much harder to define. Soon dozens of younger children look up to him as one of their leaders, and his best friend becomes increasingly unstable as the endless war eats away at them. As the years pass, and he reaches an age he didn't reach before, Rue begins to wonder if survival is the best option. Or if his existence might cause more harm than good.
Enter the Avatar. Whose brief stay with the Freedom Fighters opens Rue’s amber eyes in more ways than one.

Summary
Sokka is holding on to the overhead railing for dear life. He distinctly feels that his shirt has become untucked on one side and he may or may not have his blazer button torn off. But most importantly, he is suddenly chest to chest with the grey-suit guy, who looks as uncomfortable as Sokka feels, his arm stuck awkwardly between them, his fair face turning red. The guy tsks in irritation, which – rude, Sokka isn’t particularly fond of the situation either. The guy isn’t holding on to a handle or a rail – he is kind of small, Sokka notices, his hair tickling Sokka’s chin – so on the next sharp turn, the guy’s hand flies to Sokka’s shoulder for purchase. His wide eyes meet Sokka’s for a second, face a little panic-y, before he abruptly removes his hand and looks resolutely somewhere to Sokka’s right, his scowl returning with double force.

If anyone could get themselves a hot bus nemesis, it would be Sokka.

Summary
"It's just two years, Sokka. Two years and I'm free."
---
The ice has been Sokka's life for as long as he can remember. Learning to skate at his family's rink preceded learning to walk. The rink has been his safe place through everything; an ADHD diagnoses, an injury in his favorite sport, the death of his mom and his first girlfriend, and a myriad of mental health issues stemming from all of those things. If only he didn't have to share it with the stuck up rich kid that just moved into town. The rink needs the money Zuko's family brings in from renting it four days out of the week, but Sokka's not sure he can last dealing with the high demands of a professional figure skater.(Or: Zuko is a professional figure skater with expectations he can never live up to and Sokka is a college hockey player who really wishes the guy constantly getting on his nerves wasn't so gorgeous.)

In another life, the avatar awoke one hundred years after the war began, when the last waterbender of the southern tribe broke the glacier that held him captive, freeing him from his prison. In another world, the first thing he saw after a hundred years of confinement was the face of the same girl who freed him and his brother. This is not that life.
In this world, the glacier broke seventeen years earlier. What came out of it was less a human and more a spirit.

Summary
“But you just said honor is about doing what’s right. You must have known that wasn’t right,” Sokka presses.
There’s a long moment of silence. Then, “I knew it didn’t feel right. But I always told myself that if I knew the first thing about honor, I would still be home.”
“I don’t understand."
“I didn’t, either,” Zuko sighs.
~
Of course Sokka has seen the scar. It’s kind of hard to miss.
…It just hadn’t occurred to him that it meant anything.

Summary
Fire Lord Azulon once was told that bringing together the bloodlines of Avatar Roku and Fire Lord Sozin would create great firebenders for generations to come. However, he misunderstood at what cost this blessing would come to his family and to himself personally. The cost of power is high, and the cost of perfection is ever higher.
