Liz wouldn't call herself happy. She's only staying married for her children and she can barely stand to be around her husband. She's not satisfied with her career despite her success. Liz's life feels suffocating and without her children she thinks it would be completly mirserable
A family vacation to Seattle leads her to reflecting on many of the choices she's made through out her life. Going back to New York at the end of the trip starts to feel like it could be one of the worst decisions she's ever made in her life. Liz can see the possibility of a different life in Seattle and she starts to consider if that's something she can have.
