Summary
Supposing the proposal to have been brought about by Sonya’s qualities would be a grave mistake indeed in the same way that believing an excess of feeling in the old Prince Bolkonsky had led upon such a path. The plain truth was the Prince had proposed because he could, because his eccentric nature demanded it and because he thought it a move that would most discompose his family. His reflections had gone no further than that and he’d certainly thought nothing of the bride-to-be beyond a vague interest that she be presentable, in which he was satisfied with a cursory look. Her opinions and wishes were certainly never a consideration; it was enough that he’d enabled her to be a shining beacon on the market of Marrying Well and in his estimation she ought to be glad for the condescension.

Summary
“Good morrow,” Sonya greeted in a whisper to his nod of acknowledgement. “Shall we be on our way soon?”
It was not light out yet, just the grey glow of a wintry dawn.
Dolokhov shook his head. “Not for some time yet. Rest some more.” She thought his eyes held something of affection just then, as he passed a hand over her shoulder, guiding her towards the blanket.
AU! On the way to the Blagodatsky mine where Decembrists carry out their hard sentence, Sonya finds that God helps those who help themselves. She might have a little help from an old (almost, but not quite) friend - Dolokhov.

Summary
Retelling episodes from War and Peace in the style of Pushkin’s Eugene Onegin, with occasional forays into other classic Russian narrative poetry forms. Recurring theme: What kinds of stories do the characters in War and Peace think they’re in or imagine themselves into?
Reflections, vignettes, ballads, epic fragments, lyrical scenes. Sporadically updated in not-quite-linear fashion.
[Mostly on hiatus while I work on a translation of Eugene Onegin. (Something I've wanted to do for a long time, and this project helped me get up the nerve to give it a go.) I still have plenty of ideas for W&P sonnets and I'll be back here eventually!]
