Morana is a teenage girl, surrounded by the terrors of her past. She is considered to be a ‘walking curse’ to those around her, bringing death and misfortune. Although she is aware of something others aren’t, she knows she's a creation of an author having to do their bidding. Morana tends to break the 4th wall trying to get people to help her but no one can, once she breaks the 4th wall she is usually ‘reset’, she doesn’t lose her memories once she’s reset though. Morana has to go through traumatic experiences at the hands of her ‘creator’, she slowly starts to hate and resent her ‘creator’ for putting her through all this pain and trauma making her an outcast of society. Morana considers herself to be a clown in a world full of unknowing puppets and background characters, a clown having to put up an act for those around her trying to fit into the story the author made. Morana soon figures out that she isn't just a character in the story, she figures out that she is almost a direct copy and paste of her author, born into a fake world to tell the story of her author.

After the Bearer of the Curse chose not to burn, Lord Souls did not re-enter the cycle. Due to this, others with powerful souls had to sacrifice themselves, including Yhorm, Aldrich, Ludleth, and the Abyss Watchers. It came around to Prince Lothric, who was created for just this purpose -- but he has denied it. The First Flame has brought forth those powerful souls to burn again, but the majority have abandoned their thrones.
Now it's up to the Unkindled, who weren't good enough in their own lifetimes, to gather not only the Lords who abandoned their thrones, but also to gather Lothric. Only, it's unlikely that the instructor of Prince Lothric is going to let it be that easy, and the motives of the Bearer of the Curse, Morana, are questionable, at best.
Not to mention, there are plenty of other factions vying to end the flame, usurp it, or continue it.
The last installment of the Dark Souls trilogy, now complete!
