Summary
Killua is a twelve year old boy who has untouched trauma from his still ongoing childhood. He starts to discover how bad his life was on Kukuroo Mountain through continuous vivid nightmares.
Now he is taking a trip to Whale Island with Gon for some rest and relaxation before they head out to Yorknew city. However, Killua"s nightmares are getting worse every night and are even starting to affect him during the day. He doesn"t want to bother Gon with his struggles, so maybe, just maybe, if he ignores the nightmares, everything will be okay.This story takes place directly after the Heavens Arena arc and right before the start of the Greed Island arc! My goal was to make it fit the canonical timeline with just a few changes here and there!

“Oh!” Gon snaps out of his stupor. “Killua! I was just about to go inside,” Gon says, walking up to him. Killua stiffens slightly.
“Oh, uh. Okay. I’ll go then,” he says softly, and Gon pouts slightly.
“Awe, okay. Hey, I was wondering why you’re here? Are you a new student at our school? I don’t remember them mentioning a new student-”
Immediately Killua bristles, and he glares at Gon making his spine shiver oddly. “Why do you want to know? While he acknowledged that if he ever came to be fully capable of compassion he"d probably commit suicide almost immediately, he also found his lack of it to be an issue when in the process of social integration. Years after he separated from the Zoldyck route, it started to become sort of a bother.
It was a constant reminder that, despite trying hard to pretend it was, this was not what he was made for.

It’s been clear to him why everyone was so scared of the Fae.
Just the area near the closest Fae Ring was silent. There was no breeze, no birds, no critters scurrying across the grass, despite how lush it was. Despite how many berry bushes lined the area even during the winter.
Gon knew better than to eat from them. Even if he grew up poor with Mito, where food was definitely not a constant, the berries were just as dangerous as the Fae. Mito stressed on this. Even the villagers would stop him occasionally to remind him of the dangers.
But Gon was desperate, Mito has been feeding him more than herself, and it was showing. They always made do with what they had but he was growing and it just wasn’t enough anymore.
