    Summary

Yes, there were still some cables connected to him and an IV stabbed in his arms, but the morphine had been lowered enough for him to be fully aware, thus it was low enough for the pain to do its sadistic thing.

    A vial would be just–

Wolfwood's shoulders immediately tensed and he gasped, his eyes wide open again. Hell, no, he internally slapped himself.

Or, after almost dying from an overdose of his vials, Wolfwood swore not to drink one ever again. However, it becomes an actual problem when he eventually gets wounded and he has to deal with the pain he's avoided for so long.

    Summary

And then Wolfwood woke up with a halt, with unshed tears blurring his vision, and him being vaguely aware he was shaking like a leaf due a chocked sob that was trying to escape his ribcage.

    He needed to go.

He knew he wouldn't be able to pull through that nightmare if it became a reality.

It would be a fate even worse than death.

Or, Wolfwood doesn't die after fighting against Livio but does take a huge nap while recovering. However, when he wakes up, the thing he first remembers is the image of the kids he used to take care of looking at him with fear in their eyes.

    Summary

Grief is pulling the trigger. Grief is going against every one of his principles to save his brother. Grief is unrepentant. Grief is another man's blood being spilled. Grief is begging for another option, pleading that there has to be some other way. Grief is knowing it was inevitable.

Grief is love. It is wholly and irrevocably love. It’s screaming into the air that someone was here and someone was loved. It’s honoring the only mother he ever knew and only breaking the promise for a moment, just to honor the man he loved and the friends he loved along the way.

Vash swallows thickly, clasping his hands behind his back. “What makes you think God wasn’t grieving when he formed Adam and Eve?”

    Summary

Wolfwood has a strict nightly routine, and it doesn't usually involve him being startled by the sound of heavy banging on the front door, and opening said door to see a man soaked with blood and wet from the rain. The barrel of a shotgun in Wolfwood’s hands is what catches the man's attention first, he glances down lazily at it, and he laughs. He laughs before collapsing on his doorstep, and all of a sudden, Wolfwood feels very silly with the shotgun in his hands and a dying man at his feet.

(In which Wolfwood is a ranchero and Vash an outlaw he takes in.)
