Summary
They went in at 7:38 AM. Finding the couple was easy, Eddie moving to help the man stabilize his foot, while Buck spoke to the woman, calming her down with statistics about caves he’d heard in a documentary once. Once the man’s foot was stable, Eddie convinced him to walk on it long enough for them to get out of the cave. He let the man walk in front of him, staying behind him in case he tipped back on the uneven terrain.
No one expected the ground to start shaking at 7:52 AM. No one expected the ledge to break off, either.

Or, Eddie is missing, presumed dead after a cave collapse caused by an earthquake, and Buck has to deal with the ramifications.

Summary
“Well, wish I could help,” It had been playing in Eddie’s mind all day. He was even thinking it as he sipped the beer Buck handed him. “Well, wish I could help,” even as they spoke about Marisol and Tommy. “Well, I wish I could help,” played as he hugged Buck just as he came out to him. He felt embarrassed that it played in his mind at such a sensitive moment. One where Buck worried his friend would instantly meet him with rejection. “I wish I could help,” the words repeated in his mind as he drove home. They repeated in his head even as he asked Marisol to move out. Eddie let his mind wander when he was in the shower later that night.

“It’s you.”
“What?”
“Tommy and I couldn’t be serious, I couldn’t be all in, because… because of you, Eddie. Because I like you.”
“Oh.” And Eddie would be lying if he says he’d never considered this before, especially since that night at Buck’s kitchen island, two months ago, Buck’s big blue eyes finding his own brown ones as he told him that he had been on a date with a man. As his best friend confessed that men were an option now. But… but Eddie has never considered a man an option. Not really. Even if that man is his best friend. Even if that man is Buck. So, through glass in his throat, he says, “Buck… I can’t – I’m not –”

“Dispatch 118, respond to a three-alarm structure fire located at 3400 East Main Street. This is a multi-story apartment building, fire started on the eighth floor and just started spreading to surrounding floors, and is rapidly progressing. Evacuation assistance is requested. Stations 136 and 133 are on scene, with the 122 en route.”
Eddie hesitated as he climbed in the truck behind Buck, who didn’t seem to register anything beyond the fact that it was an apartment fire.
“Bobby, what was the address?” Eddie asked as he slipped the headset on.
“3400 East Main Street,” Bobby replied, and by the tone of his voice, it seemed he recognized the address as well. Eddie glanced over to Buck, who was sitting across from him next to Ravi, his leg trapping Eddie’s against the door.
“Wait a second, did you say–”
“The loft.”
--
Or, the loft burns down and Buck moves into the Diaz house.
