If he's honest, yes, it is largely Phoenix Wright's fault that he ran away, not because of shame, but because being on the receiving end of that constant, bullheaded, endless trust had felt like being cared for in a way that nobody had ever cared for Miles. It had felt good. Better than Miles had any right to feel.
Hence the guilt trip, pun very much intended.
