What was unexpected was the tiny piglin trailing after Philza, who shyly hid behind the old bird’s cloak after he closed the front door. Techno caught his friend's eye, an unspoken question on his face and Phil simply said,

Six years.
In his long life, six years should not have mattered for Technoblade. He's old enough to have known the world before the Antarctic Empire, he's old enough to have come to this town before it was even a town, six years should have felt like barely more than a month.
It's what he tells himself, anyway, when it gets a little too much. Barely a blink in his life, no time at all, six years is fine.
Six years is the amount of time Philza has been missing for.
It's been hard, he isn't going to lie about it, he's been having a hard time when everyone around him has stopped looking, but he's still searching.
Because his friend can't be killed. Because he knows his secret, and he will never share it with the world, but much like Technoblade cannot be slain, Philza cannot stay dead.
It's not as reassuring as it should have been.
