Summary
His father's hands were warm and gentle as they palpated the lymph nodes under his jaw, but Peter couldn't help flinching. He remembered the story of how his dad had earned his medical degree – how some stuffy academic at a conference had sneered that Tony wasn't a "real" doctor despite his multiple PhDs. Two years later, Tony had graduated top of his class at Harvard Medical School, just to prove a point. Peter had seen the graduation photos: his dad holding a three-year-old Peter in one arm and his diploma in the other, both of them beaming at the camera.

Peter Parker was freshly 18 and had been absolutely terrified to go to the doctor's office as a real 'adult' for the first time, but upon meeting the friendly and highly recommended Doctor Stark.. couldn't help but wish his check up had lasted a little bit longer.
If only Peter knew how much his life could change with just a singular routine check up visit--and how much he could change in the lives of others around him. Or, more importantly, the life of an overworked, alcoholic doctor who just wants to save lives (and maybe do something else too).
