Summary
Bombay crime lord Ganesh Gaitonde tries to celebrate his wife's death anniversary twelve years after she was slain. He meets a courtesan whose enigma should be enough to keep him occupied. This courtesan is no other than Ishtar of Sumer, who tried to delay her irrelevance as a god by migrating to the Hindus Valley where she then adapted an Indian persona.
Meanwhile, decades into the future while finally settled in America, she was approached by another fallen deity who has escaped an abusive marriage for the price of complete anonymity.
Old and New gods try to co-exist in America, although the New seek more to tilt the scales into their favor by employing those who have more to gain through self-interest than fulfilling obligation to their divine kith. Such was the case with humanity's forgotten hero, Gilgamesh.
In Los Angeles, an ex-convict Shadow Moon finds himself in the company of a Mumbai-based mafia and even thrown into the quarrels of their criminal outfit, all while something otherworldly is at work.
These lives become entangled; the threads of which knitted by Desire, Despair, and Delirium.
Only Death could unravel them.

It was stupid, and probably wouldn’t work, Shadow had thought to himself as he sat on the rickety chair in his crappy apartment and stared at the cracked open window with the bowl of cream just sitting there.
He was three weeks out of prison, two weeks since he found out Laura was cheating on him with his best friend, and one week in a shitty apartment, on the shitty sound of town, with shitty furniture and shitty job prospects.
Shadow Moon justs want to live a life of anonymity after serving his three-year sentence in prison for robbing a bank at his wife's insistence but that changes when he finds out Laura cheated on him with his best friend. Now he's just trying to live day by day. Then the leprechaun showed up.
