Summary
Peter adopts Martin as a child and Martin becomes part of the Lukas family. It is far from a perfect family and Peter far from a perfect father. But Martin's life turns much better than the one he has led before, not least thanks to his new cousin Evan, the family's black sheep.
Together they grow up under the protective embrace of The Lonely as their paths will inevitably diverge and they both learn what it means to be a Lukas. -

martin is a nice person. it's less that it's something he is, though, and more that he's always made sure he is nice. that's the way to make people like him. or, at least, that's the way to make people tolerate his existence. and when he's made sure every day to be nice for so long, well, he just sort of is nice. it comes naturally.

Summary
The continent of Fear had been thrown into political turmoil following Queen Gertrude’s untimely demise, and the matters were complicated further by the fact that the crown prince Gerard remained stubbornly just as missing as he was before the Queen died.
None of this had anything to do with Martin.
None of this should have had anything to do with Martin, yet somehow here he was in the capital city, having dinner with Count Magnus as Duke Lukas's substitute.
Even in fantasy AU, Martin manages to lie himself into a terrible job.

Summary
His motivation for doing this favor was selfish. Peter promised Martin he’d explain everything – his motivation for helping Martin, his intentions, all of it – if Martin just did him one favor: find out what Elias was keeping in the tunnels.
“He has some kind of pet project down there and he won’t tell me about it,” Peter had explained, arms crossed and stormy gray eyes examining his nails, “And he loves to monologue about his latest schemes.” He had pointed at Martin then, leaning back in his chair. The fog he emitted had seemed to coil and shift, leaving it unclear where Peter ended and the smog around him began. “I want you to figure out what’s down there.”

Elias Bouchard is strange in the same way that his archive is, perpetually placid and so upper management that he seems almost like a caricature. It would be bearable - Martin has dealt with far less personable personalities - if it weren’t for his business partners.
Or: four "business partners" that Martin Blackwood meets, and one time he puts it all together

Summary
Peter and Elias adopt a fifteen-year-old Martin. It goes as well as you’d expect.
It sounds like he’s reading from a brochure, Martin thinks fleetingly, vaguely amused. These men – his new parents – do not seem like they know what they are doing.
“Peter,” Elias says dangerously. “Place in the family. Reaffirming.”
(Taking a last long look at the employee contract in his hand, Martin sighs. “Dad is so going to divorce you for this” He signs the papers with a sense of inevitability.)

Summary
One day, without anybody knowing why, Mrs. Blackwood makes a miraculous recovery! Everything from her health, to her attitude, to how she treats her son improves. The only person who thinks something is "wrong" is the same man who ran away. Martin never understood how his father could just leave... but at least he knows his mother will always love him
(A scenario in which Mrs. Blackwood has been replaced by the Not-Them, and ironically, Martin grows up having a much happier life. That is, until he starts making some discoveries and connecting the dots. The same general plot of the series still happens, but a few things are different, especially with events involving the Stranger)

Summary
Martin was a pretty lonely kid. That was a thing that happened naturally when his only remaining parent decided it was a good idea to distance herself from him, for various reasons, none that were particularly valid.
Ever since his dad had left, his mum had taken a turn for the worst. Snapping at him for the littlest of things, even when he didn’t even do anything wrong.
It.. sucked, no matter how better and better he felt he was getting at his people-watching skills, to determine their moods and, well, thoughts, in a fruitless hope that figuring it out would be the key to finding the way to get their love.
Nurses pitied him, those out of the neighborhood, unable to hear the poisoning whispers of a mother blaming her son for all her issues, and who had converted many of her friends to hate him too.
༺𓆩𓁺𓆪༻
...was the bet they currently had on-going for a child.
A child that happened to be both Forsaken-oriented, and Beholding-oriented, because if they were going to be a married couple, then what about a family? Creating an actual child was completely out of the question, so the only other option would be to look for one. What.

Summary
Martin has magicked a little kitchen into existence somewhere inside The Lonely domain. It was a necessary measure after discovering that The Forsaken did not, in fact, supply its guests with any kind of tea. Naturally, if life doesn't give you what you want, you just have to take it yourself, right?
Alternatively, Martin talks to the ones long lost and unexpectedly found, defends his fleeting sanity with a few terrible cups of tea, visualizes hitting Peter Lukas in the face and experiences Jon's sense of humour head on.

Summary
The man at the counter loomed large on the petite barista, his clear blue eyes aloof but keen. He eyed the pastry case before his gaze fixed on the barista at the register, clearly readying some snarky remark.
“Mr. Lukas! I wasn’t expecting you until tomorrow. You usually come Sunday for muffins and chai lattes for your husband, right? What brings you in on a Saturday?” Martin slid up beside the young girl and cut off the man before he could say something sharp. He smiled down at the employee and nudged her with his elbow, releasing her to catch up on drinks. She fled back toward the espresso machine with a grateful nod.
