With her comes the promise of ascension, that one day all of humanity will be uplifted into immortal, transcendent beings. This is the new course, the new purpose in life that Ryuko has devoted herself to. One day very soon she will no longer grapple with her inhuman powers alone, and she can barely wait. At the same time, the rest of our heroes move on with their own lives. And they remain as close as family, with unbreakable bonds forged in battle.
But all is not well. Slowly, so slowly it's barely noticeable, trouble begins to creep into their lives. There remain enemies, rivals for power who seek to undermine them. The challenges of ruling a troubled world begin to get to them. And of course, raising a hybrid turns out to be more of a handful than Ryuko ever imagined.
