In his head, Guts was having a full-blown existential crisis.
“I joined this performance to honor my favorite manga... my favorite story. The tale of tragedy, struggle, and survival. And now I’m in a butler suit. Facing off against Femto in a maid dress. Is this how Miura-sensei wanted me to honor his legacy?!”

Guts shows up a little later and the God Hand shows up a lot more than they do in the manga. Also necromancy, because I wanted more magic in this. Trust.

After a long day of dealing with clients, all Casca wanted was a relaxing drink. She thought the little dive she chose would provide her a little anonymity. But instead of running into one of her asshole colleagues, Casca came face to face with the man she thought she’d never see again.
Up until then, she wasn’t even sure Guts was still alive. But, there he was. Damaged, and obviously broken, but alive. Though angry at the unwelcome surprise, Casca knew she couldn’t just tell him to go to hell. Because the love they’d once shared had become a physical tether for them both. A tether he knew nothing about.
When Guts left for the military, he knew he was leaving behind the best thing that ever happened to him. Casca was his world. Unfortunately, the bad decisions of youth and his own fragile mental health created a barrier spanning years.
But, despite the shame that kept him at a distance, fate had brought them back together. The real question was, would she ever trust him with her heart again? They were different people now, and after the bombshell she dropped on him Guts knew he had to get his shit together. They had to make it, and this time, he wasn’t letting anything get in the way. Including himself.

I wanted to know how Berserk would end. What would happen to Guts, Casca, and their son. How all the characters would find closure. What sort of things this mad, difficult, beautiful story was saying.
Here's my ending to Berserk. In 2021, I wrote this to find out what would happen next. I found something out, at least. It ended up quite different from what Studio Gaga started publishing in 2022 (which I had no idea they would do while I was writing this). So, read on, and I hope you enjoy.
This work follows on Miura's last manuscript, Episode #364. It starts after Griffith has left the island (alone), when Guts and Casca are alone together for the first time in years.
