The world is burning.
A second wave of Nails rains down upon Teyvat, striking down those that had betrayed the sacred sacraments of the heavens. The Seven’s rebellion is struck down, and the Traveler goes down with them. Entire nations find themselves collateral, and their survivors turn towards unsavory allies in desperation.
A grieving twin carves the world apart in her despair, and rallies the remnants of a dying world in vengeance.
Darkness clashes against light, and the ark crumbles beneath the pressure. The world barrels towards its end, and in a desperate bid to alter fate itself, a lone wind decides to seek out its creator.
There, at the edge of time and space, God and Shade meet once again. Together, they weave a spell unlike any the world has seen before, and upon its activation, the universe shatters, and the world is rewound.
Five thousand years in the past, the god of wind is born anew. But… What use is there, in a god of freedom, who’s bound by the shackles of fate?

Arguing is Alhaitham’s and Kaveh’s favourite pastime. However, their light-hearted bickering takes a serious twist after a long day and one too many drinks. They cross lines Kaveh always thought to be walls and he ends up storming out of the tavern, furious and homeless.
As if this wasn’t enough, where Kaveh’s team planned to build, a Leyline has formed. Kaveh knew from the start the Leyline would be trouble, but he didn’t expect it to be the kind of trouble to send him back in time.
Here in the past, Kaveh is a student at the Akademiya again. A time where he isn’t in debt nor suffocated by workload. A time where Alhaitham still looks at him like he would trade in the world for his safety. Kaveh swears to himself to seize this second chance, but Alhaitham catches on quickly that there is something odd about his Senior…

It's monotonous, mundane, and way less fun than stabbing hilichurls alongside Lumine and Chongyun; just when he's about to get through with his work, he's suddenly inundated with all the orders his brother was SUPPOSED to be handling. Alhaitham feels the indescribable need to break the distance between them at the table. He wants to reach over and grab the cheeks on Kaveh’s face firmly in his hands so that they are tangible and real and not on the other side of the invisible wall between them. He wants to hold Kaveh, yell at the other until he opens up to him and lets Alhaitham inside. He wants to explore every part of him until he fully, finally understands.
There's something wrong with Sumeru city. Kaveh doesn't know why he's so sure, but he knows that it is wrong. It's the way the sunlight filters through the trees at slightly the wrong hue, the way the sounds of the streets warp in his ears, the way the people blur together as one. He doesn't get why no one else has noticed, and doesn't understand why Alhaitham disagrees with him so vehemently.
And then there's the thing that hunts for him at night.
Kaveh's goal is to solve what's going wrong with the world, and Alhaitham's is to find out what's wrong with Kaveh.

Alhaitham can never understand how it keeps happening: The fighting. A touch of constructive criticism and suddenly Kaveh is drinking away at another bar. After one particular night of Kaveh's rants of Alhaitham's "character", a ley line just so happened to appear out of the blue to respond to Kaveh's wish for some understanding on Alhaitham's part.
Only now Alhaitham finds himself waking up in Kaveh's body, and face to face with what seems to be an exact copy of himself. Except, there is no trace of Kaveh in sight ... (Well, unless Alhaitham looked in a mirror)
