"Oh, that's so cool, right? I used to bake a lot with my Mom when I was little," Bucky says, eyes fixed on the road.
"Yeah, I like baking too, but my Dad doesn't even know how to cook, how is he going to bake?"
And there it is.
Bucky doesn't need to try to imagine a funny scene of Sarah trying to get some faceless parent to mix ingredients and repeating the steps of a recipe out loud, because he can put a face and body to the allegedly horrible cook.

Maybe he’ll just give these ones a good scrubbing with an old toothbrush or something. As soon as he has the money for a new toothbrush.

As part of Bucky's job as an FBI agent, the marriage was a cover. A mutual agreement. Steve readily agreed to it since they had worked together before and dated. But he never expected to fall in love in Bucky. So much that even when the need for a fake marriage was no longer necessary, he insisted on keeping the cover. An excuse to be with Bucky.The excuse didn't bring them any closer, however, even though they shared mutual feelings for each other. Bucky's job came in the way and Steve only felt more distant from him. Desperate for the closeness they initially had before the whole charade. It's only when Steve leaves that Bucky realizes just how big the distance had been between them.
And that his job couldn't be more important than Steve.
