You know the story, so this is a collection of scenes between the missions, full of dearly missed party banter, mourning, worrying, fluff, and much needed comfort (like I needed in the second lockdown). The story is sort of finished so that I could post weekly, but I need to translate and fill some gaps in the later parts.

Summary
Vasco was a driven man, he knew his goal, plotted his course, and sailed right to it. It was how he became captain of the Sea-Horse and continued to be that captain to reach commander . But when one voyage careened his life, landlocked him, having to adapt in an ever changing world around him; how will he cope when he is told to stay with the very same royal who did this? And why is he overcome with emotions he thought were long passed?

Summary
Vasco has lived with the fact that being a Naut is a very solitary existence. That is, until he meets someone who loves the Ocean as much as he does.
Nyseeria is a Mermaid, the middle child of a large royal family, and she saves Nauts caught in storms in her spare time, despite being told not to go near humans. When she becomes entangled in a net, Nyseeria is sure of her death, but alas, a Naut saves her and is ready to show her that the surface world isn't as monstrous as her father made her believe.

Summary
An excerpt from a sequel set in the After the End universe that I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to writing in full. Following the events of Greedfall, After the End, and Return to Serene, Fleet Commander Vasco of the Nauts is sent back to Serene with orders to retrieve a child who a noble of Serene is donating to his guild...a nobleman who happens to be none other than Sir Leandre d'Arcy, Vasco's brother. (An Unexpected Party is set after this; for reference, Kurt and de Sardet's youngest daughter is born a few months after this.)
This is from the end of that story, in which Vasco retrieves the donation but decides that, instead of returning him to the Nauts' home island to be communally reared according to their customs, he's going to adopt the boy and raise him aboard the Sea Horse, as his own son.
Since I don't know that I'll ever get around to writing the Vasco fic in full, I thought it would be nice to post this as a bit of fluff for Father's Day.

As he ascended to the final area, his heart clenched when he looked out and saw no one. There were no branching paths; there was nowhere else he could go. Where was Callum? He jumped down, heart racing, then a movement to his left caught his eye, a Guardian. However, he looked no more ready to fight him than Vasco was to fight the creature. Perhaps it was his own worry showing through, but the creature before him seemed sad, seemed worried even. “Where is he? Where is Callum?”

Vasco's life has a clear horizon, his course set - life on the sea, aspirations to one day be Admiral. Until the storm, they call the Legate of the Congregation of Merchants consumes him, and bit by bit the sea alone is not enough.
This fic intends to follow De Sardet's & Vasco's story through Greedfall. The reader is advised mature content is planned for later chapters when the action picks up. Archive warnings will update accordingly.
****1st, 2nd, and 3rd chapters have received some heavy additions/edits for more context. 4th chapter is finished and starting chapter 5.
