    Summary

    Kunikida Doppo was normal.

Sure, his life has had abnormal aspects, the most obvious one was him being raised by a single mother.

His father was out of the picture, he hadn’t ever met his father before and he had never really had a desire to meet the man.

He simply wasn’t there, why would he question where he was? He obviously didn’t want to be a part of his life, so why dwell on it?

Plus, he already had his mom, someone who always provided him with her continuous support.

Sure, she wasn’t always around, being too busy at work or getting caught up in something at her office.

And sure, she tended to be absent from most of his school activities and award ceremonies, only congratulating him when she got home hours later.

But when she was with him, she was so nice and loving towards him, that it must have meant her absence wasn’t of her own choosing.

He wanted to make her proud, so of course he threw himself into studying, working day in and day out for exceptional grades, eventually learning about the wonders of a notebook, helping him with scheduling and talking with others.

Kunikida was as normal as he could be, and that was a fact he tried to make obvious.
