Summary
Yamato is a doer. He makes things, and he fixes things, and, by extension, the problems people have. He’s always done his best to create the changes he wanted to see in the world. And it always felt like he could. Sure he wasn't going to solve every problem. And there were always things that were too much for him, or that he just wasn't the right person to resolve.
But now, he can't even fix his own problems. Unfortunately, his brain can't be patched up with a perfectly cut piece of sheet metal and some carefully placed nails.
There's a lot to process. He's been changed, in ways that make it impossible to be the person he once was. Yamato still carries these feelings with him, even after it becomes clear that things probably won't ever magically go back to the way they used to be. His grief still lingers, following him throughout his days, and sometimes, his chess games.
Reflections and emotions on disability and grieving who you used or wanted to be.
