Grian was the most beloved king to have ever sat on the throne of the Mycelium Kingdom. His father and their father before him ruled the land with a harsh iron fist, leading decades of war, poverty and death. Once Grians father died during a great battle against another kingdom; Grian was crowned king soon after at the age of nineteen.
It took years of effort, but Grian managed to end the wars, form many alliances throughout the lands making their once decaying kingdom into a prosperous one. It's been many many years since his achievements and with that brought on new problems. Since he was getting close to the age of 30, his council kept bringing up the need for a Queen to pass on the crown.

What if the Hermits never found out that Xisuma had been replaced by Ex? You would think that would leave Grian to rot in the single-player world, with NPC Grian manipulating his every move and keeping him in line. But luckily, there's one entity that won't let that happen. So he sends down his most powerful follower and ex-apprentice to save Grian, and help him create a Kingdom of those who are lonely and have been cast out just like the three of them.
