Summary
Ran was the famed prodigy of the Maschenny branch, the 'new ace' of the Khun family, who bowed down to no one and mercilessly defeated every single one of his cousins in duels.
Then he met Khun Aguero Agnis over a series of occasions, and was expertly roped into his scheme of helping Maria become a Jahad Princess. Ran hated being used by other people, but he found that he didn't mind this time—A.A. and Maria were interesting people, and he figured it was worth his effort helping them. But things don't go so smoothly.
Once it was all over and Maria became Princess while A.A. left shortly after to climb the Tower, Ran had absolutely nothing left.
Until he met A.A. again many years later—this time as Regulars. And they try working together again, and slowly move past what had happened all those years ago.

"I trust you."—Aguero opens his mouth to speak—"It's not a blind trust, do not get ahead of yourself. I'm just saying that if I had to jump from the top of some stairs, three or four steps separating me from the ground, and I could clearly see the other side and you told me to jump, I would. In most scenarios, at least."

Maschenny laughs but she can't help thinking that she does. This new situation might be different, it's certainly different compared to the world she had imagined living, but this didn't mean it would be bad. She could still reach the Top. Just, in this scenario, she wouldn't have to be alone.

Summary
Maria should have been worried, she sometimes thinks when looking back at the memory, she certainly should have been worried. Betrayal within the family branch wasn’t to be taken lightly. But alas, Maria was too focused on the fact that she would finally become a Princess of Zahad to further question Aguero’s answer.
“If anything happens,”—Aguero raises his gaze almost hopefully, Maria gulps—“don’t lose yourself to them.”
Aguero chuckles, a rare sight for her to see. Most Khuns aren’t earnest like this, even Aguero, so whenever she would make her younger brother have fun, she couldn’t help feeling a sense of accomplishment.
“I would hate to see my favourite brother become another Khun clone.”
“I’m the only brother with who you’re talking.” Aguero teases “It’s not a competition.”
