Summary
AU: the Military Wives are just straight up military. Deploying to Afghanistan, newly-promoted RSM Lisa Lawson leaves her marriage in tatters and her daughter estranged. An unexpected addition to their unit is Colonel Kate Barkley, who Lisa only knows in passing, back in lower-ranked days. Their unit is known as the 'singing sisters' because of their raucous karaoke nights and tendency to pass long boring stretches with impromptu singalongs, when it's safe to do so.
It turns out Lisa isn't the only one running from emotional troubles, but is a warzone any place to make a new friend, let alone have it turn into something more? Will rank get in the way, or are they just too different outside of that? And then there's the guilt, and plenty of it.
