Summary
Last year, Arsenal's lifelong star, English defender Leah Williamson, made a record-breaking transfer of £12 million to Montreal's Roses FC in Canada's Northern Super League, one of the only teams capable of challenging Barcelona in the world of women's football.
It had caused uproar. Arsenal's star player, who had previously joked that her leaving the club was as likely as her becoming prime minister, had stunned the world with her sudden departure. Now, a year on, she seems to have settled well into the quick gameplay and variable weather conditions.
Montreal's sports physiotherapist Alessia Russo is not so sure. Or maybe she just needs something to distract her from the growing attraction she has towards the endearing English blonde.
Either way, Alessia is bound to find out. No matter how well Leah seems to have settled on the surface, the scars of that transfer will still be there. Only time will tell if Alessia will ever discover just how deep they run.
