Summary
"Anne had always been a hair too common to be invited to Lady Josephine Barry’s — being deep in debt will do that — but Diana, Countess Wright was just the sort of esteemed noble who was asked to Barry House at least once a week. Diana was also a gifted gambler who would rather stay up until six in the morning winning at dice than spend her mornings waiting to get called into a stuffy receiving room. Their partnership was perfect: Anne made all of Diana’s daily social calls on her behalf, and Diana slept as late as she pleased."
A middle-aged Anne, jaded by poverty, finds herself again.

Summary
It all started when Augustine heard a bedtime story coming from one of her classmates; a long-time rumour in Avonlea that two women went on a vacation in Belgium only to come home with uncertainty and terror that can be seen on their faces. Both of them have luckily survived the sudden attack from the Germans that has left nothing but the blood of the innocents as they worked their way through conquering Belgium and France. However, after a long and arduous path on their way home, they brought home an infant from war. After that scenario, the local townsfolk are not even sure where they went the last time they saw them. All they can think of is that either the couple lives somewhere in Avonlea where no one knows or even in Charlottesville as far as the rumour goes.

Summary
Anne looked up as the door into Miss Stacy's porch closed behind her. "Come to get some air, too?" she asked.
Gilbert nodded. "Too warm in there," he murmured before going to sit down. Halfway down he lost his balance, and Anne reached out to give him a hand. He gave her a quiet "Thanks", but didn't let go of her hand.
"Gilbert, are you running a fever?" Anne put her free hand to his forehead. "You feel warm. You're flushed… we should get you home."
She made to stand, but Gilbert held onto her hand. "Anne, please, I have to tell you—"
Anne finally tugged her hand free of Gilbert's. "Gilbert, you're not feeling well. The Queens entrance exams are in a few days; you need to get home and rest so you're well enough to sit them."
"I'm not sick, Anne," Gilbert insisted, his eyes desperate and somehow soft at the same time, pleading with her to listen. "I'm fine. I just… I have to tell you. I need you to know that I—that you… you're…"
He doesn't know what he's saying. He has a fever and he doesn't know what he's saying. "Just stay there. I'll be back with help." Anne darted inside.

Summary
Anne Shirley-Cuthbert has always been drawn to Gilbert Blythe—the honest and earnest, tall and dark dancer of a young man with those warm eyes of his and more pure empathy than she knows doctors to have. It had always seemed ethereal, or ancient—something that had been carved into her bones over the ages; something that felt like life's tug on her strings of fate.
She had just never known exactly how right she was.
or
Anne Shirley's imaginary friends, fanciful names and women carved out of magic and fairytales are remnants of past lives, and they are all drawn to every Gilbert Blythe like moth to a flame.
