Summary
Marko, a cleric facing poverty, had only one opportunity to potentially escape his unfortunate circumstances: join a hero team of swordsmen and stand on the sidelines as the team’s healer. However, Marko’s small mistake escalated into a lifelong traumatic event for him, and he couldn’t drop his position no matter how tempting it was for a safety.
When a repeat of the situation happens nearly days later, a demon comes to his rescue. Not just any demon—the demon that his team was ordered to kill: Joost.
Joost, who’d been hunted for nearly his entire life and diminished for his demonic features by humans, felt indebted to Marko ever since it’s been reported that a team hunting for him had abused Marko. Not to mention, he desperately needed a healer in his crew. Out of urgency and sympathy for a mere mortal, he allowed Marko to join his crew.
Without Marko, Joost and his team can’t protect themselves. Without Joost, Marko would’ve suffered through worse. But, their different ideologies could result in another obstacle.
Would that even matter in the future when Joost allowed a mere human to consume his heart, and Marko broke his morals and beliefs when it comes to the demon that saved his life?
