“Is that your witch book?” she asked, suddenly looming over his shoulder.
With a panicked jolt and a squeaking sound he jumped upright and, a fraction of a second later, shut the book close.
“No it isn’t!” he said. “I mean… no what is a witch book? Witches aren’t real, there is no witch book!”
“I must have imagined it, then,” she said. “I could have sworn you were writing about me.”
Jojo blushed furiously.
“How much did you… I didn’t write about you at all! Why did you read my journal?!”
“It’s a journal?” she asked.
“This,” the boy said. “The not witch book. Yes. It’s my journal.”
She sat down next to him on his bed.
“You aren’t that fat, not like your drawing.”
He looked away.
“I’m not fat at all, why are you reading my journal?”
“You mean your witch book,” she said matter of factly.
“There’s no witch book!” His voice squeaked with his embarrassment. -
