He shouldn’t be here, skulking outside the window of his sister’s old bedroom, the one she and her husband stay in when they visit, and he certainly shouldn’t be doing that while the occupants are inside, enjoying the sort of nightly activities husbands and wives tend to enjoy.

Jin Zixuan had made a disgusted face, and Jiang Cheng had bristled, “Look, it’s just a little too gross-”
“Are you calling Jie gross?” Jiang Cheng had snapped, stepping into his brother-in-law’s space a bit aggressively.
The other man had huffed and given him a pleading look, “Of course not. I’m squeamish, Jiang Cheng. It’s not her failing, it’s mine.”
Jin Zixuan requests Jiang Cheng's assistance in relieving Jiang Yanli's period cramps. Jiang Cheng agrees, in return for- well, not much of a price at all.

He hesitates as he reaches the door, raising his hand to knock and then letting it drop to his side. Maybe he should just let them stay, after all. Surely he could just make some of his servants share rooms. They had booked the whole inn, though. It’s really not his fault if it’s the only inn in town. He raises his hand again to knock, and pauses again at the feminine giggle sounding through the thin wall.
“A-Xian, patience. Did you get what we needed?” A woman’s voice - probably Yanli’s - coos.
‘A-Xian’. He knows that name. The Jiang’s head disciple, Wei Wuxian. Well, he can’t just interrupt them now, that would be rude. He’ll have to wait until there’s a lull in the conversation.
There is the sound of fabric rustling, and two sharp gasps, “Oh my. Well you certainly found a… girthy one.”
A man laughs, and another man groans, “Wei Wuxian! How am I supposed to fit that in?”
At the inn in Caiyi town before the Gusu lectures, Jin Zixuan witnesses something he wasn't meant to, and it flips his beliefs about his future on their head. He sure isn't complaining, and neither are Jiang siblings.
