    “I love you,” were Bruce’s last words to him as he left. “I love you, and you’ll always have a home here.”

    And Jason could have said it back. Should have admitted that the reason he wanted Bruce to be angry was because, to Jason, anger had always been the purest form of love. He should have told Bruce how he needed the man angry because how else should he know he cared?

    But Bruce had refused to fight. He just took every insult Jason leveled at him, apologized for his mistakes, and stayed brutally, unshakably calm.

    And Jason needed to leave, so he did.

    There was no one there who could stop him.

    He left, and days later, he got the call from Alfred.

    At first glance Thomas was sure the victim was already long gone, just a burned, mangled husk attached to tubes and wires. But he was shocked to see that the heart monitor was slowly beeping. “What happened?” Thomas immediately questioned. “There was an explosion in an abandoned building around Park Row. He was found in the rubble. He was resuscitated on the scene and coded once in the ambulance. Aside from severe burns, broken bones and trauma the worst injury seems to be a wound at his throat caused by a sharp object.” They rattled off more information as Thomas quickly prepped for surgery. Every second was going to have to count to save this one.

But somehow he wakes up he in an alternate universe where Thomas and Martha Wayne didn't die, and Bruce never became Batman. Lost and alone Jason struggles with his injuries and his own existence, but the Waynes are determined to help him every step of the way. Jason finds himself the pseudo older brother to a teenage Dick and a baby Damian. Little do the Wayne's know that Jason has a knack for "adopting" kids. He starts with his own tiny counterpart.
