This story is the anticipated sequel to “Darlin’” and follows the events of Sim Settlements 2: Chapter 3. As Carmen struggles to become the leader that will ensure the Commonwealth’s survival, Jake struggles to make sense of their relationship. In this brutal affair of guerrilla tactics and subterfuge, where does he fit in, and why does it feel like his darlin’ ain’t so darling anymore? Can Aiden let go of the future he invested in, or will his stubbornness prove to be their undoing? And when the war is done, who will be left standing to piece together the scattered remains of the Commonwealth? Does victory mean peace?

In this ongoing tale I am pulling from the game's lore, Sim Settlements 2 Chapter 2 story arc and its characters, and mixing and matching some things to suit the trajectory of the story that I want - excuse me - my characters want to tell. I love this game, but from a writing perspective I find so many of the characters vapid, shallow or just useless. In this writing I am bringing them to life in a way I feel suits the character I think they had the potential to be (or are telling me how they want to be portrayed), and in turn I hope that it brings more depth to them.
I will leave notes at the end of each chapter that will explain my thoughts, why I changed a particular character that shows up at that time, or other random thoughts about the writing. I do hope you enjoy my take on the characters, or at least find the changes amusing. Thanks for reading, and stay safe out there wastelanders!
