I saw it as a kid, too, which is why I looked up to you so much and tried to…” He trailed off. “Well, I wanted to be your friend. I wanted you to like me.”
“I did. Like you, I mean. I liked all of you, but I was… I was scared.” He still did not have the memory of what happened to his birth parents, but the trauma followed him to the orphanage.
“It’s okay. We’re still young, so we have plenty of time to, um, like each other and be friends. You want that still?”
