It’d had been five years since Rat had left No.6 to wander. Shion had missed him greatly and even though Dogkeeper and Old Man Rikiga wouldn’t admit it they do to. Rat returns on the five year anniversary. Shion is overjoyed to have hime back and Rat would never say so but he missed Shion a lot. Shion and Rat tour the city and west block and spend lots of time togother as well spending time with Rikiga and Dogkeeper. Though it appears while Rat had not changed much over the five years apart Shion has, and Rat has a feeling this new change will not be for the better.

Now No.6 is slowly starting to open up to the rest of the world, no longer its dystopian utopia, Shion spends all his time dealing with the Restoration Committee. He works and he misses and he helps look after Shionn and life is grey until an unknown number sends him a message.
He knows exactly who it's from.-
'Shion picked another report at random, made sure he hadn’t read it before, and began flicking over it when his phone lit up. From this side of the desk, he’s able to glance down at the screen without moving his head. Mum: Don’t forget to pick up- it says and he scoops it up to check that it’s definitely his turn to bring Shionn home that evening. He shoots off an affirmative and then remembers that message from earlier. When he clicks out of the contact, it's from an unknown number. Which is not surprising to him - it feels like everyone here has his mobile number. But there’s no message preview, just ‘[image]’ which, again, doesn’t twig. He’s just preemptively tired at the prospect of more paperwork being sent directly to him through technology. He clicks on the contact and the image loads agonisingly slowly.And he is surprised.'

Shion had gone outside about an hour ago as the water had dripped sluggishly down the stairs, carrying mud and sludge down into the library entrance. The rain wasn’t heavy—nothing like that storm in which he’d met Nezumi—but the drizzle was cold and oppressive, wetting his bangs against his forehead and seeping into his clothes.
The dull rain left a haze over the horizon, covering the existence of any stars that might have otherwise shown. It had already been well past midnight, even then, and Nezumi hadn’t come home yet.

A mixture of cheers erupted from the crowd of mundanes at the ring toss. Nezumi snatched his prize, something in a plastic bag, from the game master and said to the teenager, “Better luck next time.”
He headed towards Safu and Shion with Inukashi padding along beside him. His hair was pulled back, too, several strands hanging loose over his ears and falling to his collarbone. Nezumi had faerie blood in his family, like Shion, and it showed in his features: his vibrant silver eyes, his angular cheekbones, and the porcelain color of his skin.
Dangerous thoughts, Shion told himself. There were things he thought about his parabatai that he could never give voice to—no matter how much it was killing him inside.

It feels like sweet nectar on his tongue, drips down parched throat right into his belly where the worms and beetles and snakes dissolve in the rich honey, fill his lungs with blooming flowers that rob him of every breath in their wonder.
“Shion.”
His arms feel stronger than he remembers. His body denser. Fuller.
“Shion.”
His hair is a bit longer, slips easily out of the low ponytail it was hurriedly tossed in. Skin softer in some places, but coarser under his palm where he cups his cheek, feels the barest hint of stubble that must have grown in since his last shave.
“Shion.”
His smile is just as brilliant as it’s always been.
