Summary
Sometime between Link’s endless trips to rid of all the monsters Ganon had so kindly created, Zelda had insisted she come along on one. She badgered him about a, “buddy system,” and he’d argued that there’d been no, “buddy system,” for the entire stretch of time after his awakening, but she’d been adamant about accompanying him on his trip to the Great Plateau. Link didn’t want to endanger her, but he also knew that arguing with Zelda after she’d put her mind to something was a fruitless endeavor, so he’d simply sighed and nodded. Zelda had looked beyond relieved for a beat before she covered it up with a curt, satisfied nod.
If Link didn’t know any better, he’d say Zelda was worried about him.
And maybe she had a right to be, Link thought, as he felt a club made of bone thwack his temple with so much force he was knocked off the edge of the snowy cliff. Maybe, Link mused as he felt icy cold water hit his back and swallow him whole, Zelda’s voice screaming his name from a distance. Just maybe, this whole, “buddy system,” thing would be of use.

Toya nods. He remembers he’s on the phone, and breathes a near-silent “uh-huh”.
“Christ, what are you doing up there?” Another moment passes in silence, and then Toya hears his partner’s breath hitch. “Toya,” he says, voice firmer than before, “what are you doing.”
He doesn’t respond. He can’t.

Desperate for a way out, Toya goes to a bridge, only to find himself too afraid to commit; he calls his partner, and they work through the outcome together.

I rub my eyes and glance at the clock on my phone, which reads 2:40AM. I have time for one more episode of One Piece. I tap on the screen to start the next one, but it won't play. I groan in frustration. Stupid, crappy internet! It never works when you really need it. Setting my phone down, I turn to roll out of bed, and my arm smacks into the wall.
Wait a minute… There shouldn't be a wall there. I try to sit up, and smack my head. It's hard beneath me, too. I slowly realize I'm in a wooden box. How the crap did I end up in a box?! I reach for my phone to turn on the flashlight. I pat around beside me. My phone is gone!
Okay. Okay. Don't freak out. I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for this.

„Thank you“, the voice in Sirius‘ head murmured before finally falling silent. Snape had fallen asleep. Sirius just hoped that at least this night would be free of nightmares. He‘d definitely had enough of those.

That night, Sirius and Snape slept snuggled into each other under James‘ invisibility cloak and Sirius regular covers. Their skin was touching in all the different places. Their legs entangled, Sirius had tightly wrapped his arms around the undercooled Slytherin. It was the best way he knew to warm Snape up. He would have liked to give Snape something hot to drink, too, but he didn‘t want to alert the house elves to their nightly adventure. Thus, Snape would have to do without. He would consequently spare both of them the detention and bring Snape to Madame Pomfrey early the next morning. There were only a few hours of the night left, anyway.
It was finally a night without nightmares, too, for which Sirius was more than glad. Their night was short enough without those terrifying dreams.
