Summary
Xiao Xingchen has sacrificed his memories for something he could no longer remember. When he awakens in a world he knows nothing about, he finds three steps ingrained within the emptiness of his mind that he surmises are what he needs to regain his memories.
The first: Xue Yang owes him blood.
The second: Song Zichen owes him a song.
The third: He owes himself a life.
Though he does not know the meaning of these steps, Xiao Xingchen sets out to find Xue Yang, the one whom the world claims is his enemy, who turns out to be not quite what Xiao Xingchen had expected him to be.
As Xiao Xingchen travels the cultivation world with Xue Yang, he learns anew who he is and what he had set out to do. He learns of a side of Xue Yang that no one has ever known before. He learns anew about the world he had chosen above all else and resolves to find a new path through it with Xue Yang by his side. Along his path, he is drawn into a web of mystery and secrets involving unspeakable lies and unimaginable crimes, the unraveling of which will shake the very foundations of the cultivation world.Or, in which I make Xiao Xingchen and Xue Yang the main characters of MDZS.

“No…” a wretched whisper left his lips.
Voices lashed into a whirlwind between his ears. The spirits toiled along with the thundering of Wei Wuxian’s heart. The roots holding his feet to the ground suddenly gave way, and he stumbled to Lan Zhan’s side. There was a pounding in his head. Wind whipped his hair, dragging across his cheeks. He grabbed onto Lan Zhan’s hand – the same hand he’d touched that morning – with a shaking grip.
He looked desperately at Zhang Huizhong, unable to make the words come out.

Summary
Song Lan is injured during a night hunt. Worried, Xiao Xingchen helps him clean and patch up the wound.

Song Lan gritted his teeth against the pain as he stumbled up the stairs. It was only a few steps to their room but right now the throbbing in his leg made it seem like miles away.“Hold on, Zichen, just a bit more,” Xiao Xingchen’s worried voice encouraged as he helped the other man along.
Song Lan breathed a sigh of relief when he reached the top, leaning heavily against the railing to catch his breath. Xiao Xingchen hurried ahead, opening the door to their room and setting Shuanghua and Fuxue inside before returning to Song Lan’s side.
