Es ist Montagabend, nur ein Tag nachdem der Graf besiegt wurde, und die Montroses haben Gideon zum Abendessen eingeladen. Als sich das Gespräch denen im Jahr 1912 gefangenen Lucy und Paul zuwendet, kann Charlotte die bedrückte Stimmung nun wirklich nicht verstehen. Die Lösung ist doch immerhin ziemlich eindeutig.

Summary
Leslie hat in ihrem letzten Schuljahr wirklich besseres zu tun, als sich über alberne Dinge den Kopf zu zerbrechen. Bio lernen, zum Beispiel. Aber jeder Mensch würde ihr zustimmen, dass Charlotte sich komisch benimmt - Warum hat sie so kurz vor den A Levels noch den Kurs gewechselt? Warum setzt sie sich plötzlich in der Cafeteria zu Raphael an den Tisch und ist nett zu Gwen? Und vor allem, warum kriegt Leslie immer dieses komische Gefühl im Magen, wenn Charlotte ihr in die Augen sieht?
Das Letzte, was Charlotte noch gebrauchen kann, ist unnötiges Drama, jetzt, wo die Loge endgültig beschlossen hat, dass für sie kein Platz mehr ist. Aber wer hätte denn ahnen können, dass ein einfacher Kurswechsel solche Konsequenzen haben könnte? Außerdem benimmt sich Gideon in letzter Zeit wie ein noch größeres Arschloch als sonst, und wenn sie noch EIN Mal Nachts um drei "The Winner Takes It All" aus Gwens Zimmer hören muss wird das gravierende Konsequenzen haben. Und zu allem Überfluss ist da noch das Bioreferat mit Leslie - als ob das Leben als einsame, ungeküsste, ungeoutete Lesbe nicht schon schwer genug wäre!

Ein kleiner Text über Gwendolyn und Gideon, findet im 3. Kapitel von Saphirblau statt. Ich habe die ursprüngliche Handlung, wie sie im Buch beschrieben ist, abgeändert, sodass Gwen anstatt ihren Großvater zum ersten Mal zu treffen zunächst alleine Elapsiert, bis sie von einem gewissen Jemand überrascht wird.
Der erste Kuss von Gideon und Gwendolyn (in der Kirche), geschah nur wenige Stunden zuvor.

When Grace died, Gwen's was immediately swept up by an agent, who took her off to LA, no objection from neither Lady Arista or Falk. Lady Arista honestly thought it would do the girl good to build something for herself; Falk had just been lumped with Nick and Caroline in addition to his sort of nephew.
Now Falk's getting remorseful about sending his ex-stepdaughter off overseas, so he calls her back. Gwen doesn't want to admit it, but she's glad. The people, the cameras, the schedules─they were too much. She was glad to get her siblings for herself again. Lesley was also in London and she missed her─video calls just weren't the same. She was looking forward to shoving on a wig, plastering a new name, leaning back and taking it slow.
Then the time travel gene woke up and nothing is as peaceful as they sold it to her.
Especially with her sort of ex-stepbrother (distant ex- stepcousin many times removed? what the hell was he even?), who has no soft spot for her to speak of. -

Summary
In jeder Beziehung, gibt es eine Hürde die es zu überwinden gilt. Die Eltern. Oder in Gwendolyns Fall, Gideons Mutter. Alles kein Problem, wenn man sich auf das erste Treffen genügend vorbereiten kann und so vermeidet in wirklich jedes Fettnäpfchen zu treten, was auf der Erde existiert. Doch das wäre schließlich normal, und das ist Gwendolyn ja bekannterweise ganz und gar nicht!
