Summary
Therion and Alfyn's chapters 3 and 4 but make them gayer and somehow angst-ier.
The seven of the eight travelers are struck down by plague in Orewell after the events of Alfyn's chapter 4. In a feverish state, Alfyn can only seem to keep a stable head by reminiscing over his feelings for a certain thief who is currently running around against his will to keep these idiots alive. But he, himself, is an idiot who can't bear to ask for help. Even when he needs to face Darius.

Darius thinks he sees a ghost. Turns out, it's just someone with ... potential.
a brief, somewhat incomplete follow-up to Broken Strings; reading that will help context but probably isn't necessary?

Summary
In another world, the gods stand just a little closer to mortals. The barrier between their world and ours is just a little thinner. Sometimes the changes that result are small. Sometimes, they are not. Mortals do not bear a god’s power lightly.
Or: Therion is the metaphorical son of Aeber, and he accidentally stole the sunrise when he fell.

The day Therion fell was the day it all should have ended. And maybe it had, he can't be sure if he's alive or dead anymore. Man or monster. It's one more reason for him to push people away. He can't risk anyone finding out.
Or worse, that he might actually start to care.

Summary
Tressa finds Alfyn Greengrass in the tavern in Rippletide. He's good at being an apothecary, sure, and he looks strong and handy, absolutely, and she needed help with pirates.
Except, Alfyn knows everyone. And not in the friendly way, but more of in a romantic way. There's no one they meet that he hasn't dated, romanced, or slept with.
It shocks everyone, really. Some take it better than others, but the rest... not so much. Especially since he seems to have a line of lovers with one thing in common: They're all wanted criminals.

They chose the same name, after they ran away from home. Mostly because they were children. Mostly because they called them demons, with their pale hair and quiet footsteps. So they took a name from a demon, to be demons of the night.

Therion’s life is that of a leaf in the wind, being dragged around either by fate or by those with more power than him, going where his feet take him or where he’s told to go — but for the first time, he makes a stand and refuses the hand that was forced upon him.
Or; Gareth lives.

Summary
Therion had made quite the name for himself in the Cliftlands. But for all the infamy and fortune, he wasn't happy. None of the heists posed any sort of challenge, and the scenery carried too many memories.
So he leaves the region, heads north, finding his way to Duskbarrow.
There a young, elusive scholar catches his eye. As unguarded as his home seems to be, it turns out to be just the challenge Therion has been searching for.

Summary
“If you’re going to steal something, first make sure it’s worth stealing,” Therion told Gareth, voice suddenly firm with determination and something that the black haired man could not quite decipher in his eyes -- could it, perhaps, be sadness?
If you steal a heart, how do you give it back?
