Jareth finds himself drawn to the local university in Baldur's Gate for some reason that he's not entirely sure of, but anything was better than where he came from. After battling constant nightmares and voices that plague him on a daily basis, he finds comfort in the University's library where the voices seem to magically stop. The only problem is the aggravating and pretentious librarian who insists upon his rules and organization.
Gale is very dedicated to his library- he has to be. It's the only thing he has in Baldur's Gate, the rest of his life in Waterdeep. He has his hands quite full between the demanding tasks that consume him and his mother who is sickly. So when a troubled and mysterious individual starts frequenting his library and testing his patience with his very clear standards, he finds himself digging further to find out more.

It's been four years since the near destruction of Baldur's Gate. In that time Roslyn and Astarion have settled into their lives within noble society and a newfound family. Karlach, having finally been able to permanently leave Avernus, now rents an apartment with Wyll in the city, and finds herself in wanderlust thanks to continued correspondence with an adventuring Shadowheart. As Yenna struggles with her study of magic, Gale takes sabbatical to aid his adopted daughter, begrudgingly discovering that the advice of Roslyn’s great-nephew, Luka, a stubborn sorcerer, is proving more helpful to the young girl’s pursuit.
A joyous occasion brings the former companions all together once again. However, everything shifts as Roslyn, former princess of Nysa, hears of a kingdom being threatened by the very roaming empire that burned down her own. With wariness for a past she has not visited in a long time, she and her friends trek to the Shining Plains to find that their adventure only begins there.

Amos scoffed but whether it was from irritation or genuine amusement at his boyfriend’s attempt to address the elephant in the room, Astarion couldn’t quite tell. The elf offered Tav a faint, apologetic smile as he turned to scratch the back of his neck.
She took a steadying breath and, with the kind of directness Astarion admired, she asked candidly, “Sorry to be blunt, but... you two used to date?”
Or: Astarion encounters Gale a year after their breakup at a reunion, only to find him with someone new. As Astarion struggles to move on, he can't help but feel the pull of their past, especially when Gale seems intent on reconnecting.

“Why won’t you talk to me? Have I truly done something to make you believe that I am untrustworthy?” Gale’s tone has gone soft, and his angry gaze turns more into pleading as he stares at the tiefling.
Amnon continues to grind his teeth, a conflicted look in his eyes as he stares into Gale’s brown ones. Eventually, he sighs defeatedly, before turning to face the fabric of the tent to his left.
“Do you remember what you told me, all those nights ago when I asked you how you felt about having a vampire in our camp?” He asks, sounding strangely distant. When Gale fails to answer, the man turns his attention back at him, a defeated acceptance in his eyes, “‘We all have our burdens, one way or another’. This is my burden to bear. Alone.” He looks at Gale resolutely, as if silently asking for the wizard to understand.
Gale does not.
