It's the Yule Ball but with a bit of spice. Dumbledore decides to change the clothing requirements so that it's now a masquerade ball (definitely not because he wants to see people fall in love). As expected, people linger and chatter around those they never would've.

Someone finds out about them, and tips them off to Lucius, who wants to protect his son from anyone and everyone.
Or, Dumbledore loves Drarry and will do absolutely anything for that to happen. Lucius genuinely gives a shit about his kid, and some childhood bully is in love with Draco.

He has a bad attitude, and a temper like nothing the world has ever seen, but underneath that is a drive that you can't help but admire, and little by little, you'll use his obvious strength to your advantage, and little by little, he might even start to respect you.
Follows the original plot, mostly, with some bits in between. I've taken some liberties, but for the most part he's just himself. It'll take a little while to get anywhere, since he's so bull headed, but you don't really mind. You don't need him to be your friend, you just need him to be himself, because who better to work on yourself with than someone who would absolutely love to destroy you?
