Summary
It’s been a month since Tommy walked out of Buck’s loft, out of his life, and Los Angeles is feeling less and less like home; but when bushfires in Australia leave the nation pleading for help from the USA, both Buck and Tommy are thrust right onto the fireline, and back into the other’s vicinity. Between the heat and the danger, tensions are running high; volatile words are thrown around like confetti, and love is realised a little past the due date. Sometimes, though, you have to fight for what you want; or you risk watching it burn to the ground.

Summary
Tommy has a very large house. He knew it didn’t make sense: he was a single man, no family to speak of, living in an expensive city… But he’d gotten it cheap because it needed a lot of work (in fairness, so did he) and maybe, just maybe, one day he would be able to fill that stupidly big house with the family he’d been craving for so many years.
And then he gets pulled back into the 118 and meets Evan Buckley, who has a very extensive (found) family but is still searching for the elusive puzzle piece that will make him truly feel like he’s found his place.
Together, they build their home.

Or, the one where Tommy and Buck help each other find what they’ve been looking for: home.

Summary
Tommy knew, when he left Buck, that things would become more complicated; his friendship with Eddie is being practically poured out down the drain, and what was left of his friendship with Howie is slowly disintegrating, the phone calls landing fewer and farther between every time. It’s not surprising, really; they’re his friends, yes, but they’re Buck’s family, and that takes precedence. It would’ve been nice to have someone to call that night, when he came home, sure; but he didn’t have that luxury, and it’s fine. He’s been through plenty of breakups on his own before. Or the one where Eddie has a protective streak, Tommy can’t believe in something he can’t have, and sometimes you have to walk away just to stay on your feet.

Summary
It’s been two months to the very day, since Tommy left Buck’s apartment; the summer is pulling to a close, and the chill of the wind seems to chase Buck everywhere he goes, wrapped in the still, cold ache of loneliness. He hadn’t thought to use the word love, with Tommy, not until his heart was left like a doormat to his person, trod upon every time someone walks out the door. Or the one where Tommy and Buck’s reunion comes during Tommy’s worst times, and Buck realises that he’d give anything to keep them.

Summary
The summer is fading fast, and a chill follows Tommy through the firehouse doors; but it’s fast replaced with a warmth that reminds him distinctly of thick woollen sweaters and the space heater that sits in the corner of the living room at Harbor; it sends a streak of something like longing through his chest, but he presses it down, swallowing slowly and letting his eyes flicker across the room. Or the one where Tommy comes back from Harbor to sub in for a shift, and the 118 has a whole new feeling.

Summary
A part of Tommy wants to leave; even with the way they’ve re-enveloped him into the fold, his relationship with both Hen and Bobby is one that exists purely in relation to Evan; the person that Tommy was, when last they knew him, is not one that reflects who he is now, nor who he wants to be. Sitting with them, existing with them enshrouds him in a sense of shame he didn’t know he carried, and he can already feel the bitter taste of it rising in his throat. Or the one where Tommy and Evan are going strong, the 118 isn’t what it used to be, and Tommy will always feel a little deserving of what he underwent there.

Summary
Buck gets hit on at a bar, but the guys uses hypnotism to try and impress him. Except he tells Buck to be 'unapologetically Buck'. Which means ... well. It means whatever filter Buck had is completely gone. He feels great and wants his friends to feel as good as he does. But he didn't mean to send Eddie spiraling and into therapy. Not really. He just wanted his friend to be able to relax and enjoy things again, not try to please everyone. So if he needs to watch Christopher for a few weeks while Eddie gets the help he needs, he's more than happy to have his favorite kid around.

Summary
The atmosphere, tonight, is so foreign and yet so comfortable all at once; because as much as they all are trying to ignore the fact of it, this is sort of a last hurrah for the 118 as a crew. Sure, they’ll still see each other loads, and they’ll still run the tradition of horrific Secret Santa gifts every December, and you’d be mad to deny the kids the opportunity of play-dates. Or the one where the 118 might not be the 118, anymore, but they’ll always be family.

Summary
Having a funeral for a man who died before he was even born is very on-brand for Evan Buckley; and Tommy loves the little quirks in his boyfriend’s behavior, the way he so readily got them both organized to visit the new burial site and pay their respects. In a way, Tommy found all of this Billy Boils stuff hit a little too close to home, and he’s just wanting, at this point, to put it all behind them – which is hopefully what this all signifies. Or the one where Buck has everything Tommy’s ever wanted, and he doesn’t even realize it.

Summary
Bobby, atleast, is direct about it. He’ll walk up and ask for something from you. He’ll be direct, ask for his nest, or for comfort, a reminder that his pack is here with him and not miles away and buried 6 feet under.
Tommy is subtle. At least he tries to be. The man is too large to steal overt clothes, like sweaters or shirts, but everyone knows it’s him when scarves and hats start going missing.
Eddie, however, is not subtle, nor is he trying to be. Eddie will walk into the locker room, lean past you, take your sweater off the hook and walk away while tying it around his waist. He’s shameless about it, and it’s what the 118 love about him.

Summary
It's been two years since Buck and Tommy broke-up, and nobody really understood why at the time. Hell, they still don't. The couple was happy, life was full of promises, and then it was over.
Two years avoiding each other's, the two of them hanging out with the 118 fam when the other one isn't around, until one night they meet again. It pisses Buck off, as much as it reminds him how much he misses the pilot.
Excerpt:
Of course, he knew their friends kept seeing him even after the break-up, Buck had been positive it would not be a problem. After all, Tommy was their friend too, a happy group of people who quickly became a family. But knowing it and seeing it were two totally different things. Seeing it hurt him, remembering what it was to be all together. Remembering before, when they were happy.

Summary
At 15 years old Tommy has given up on the idea to leave the group home. He doesn’t want to leave. Over the past three years there have been five different foster families and he doesn’t know which kind of them is worse: The kind that seem nice and like they care, but send him back anyway after a couple of weeks, or the kind that are terrible from the get-go. It seems like the social and group home workers have given up, too. “It’s difficult to find the right fit”, they tell him and what they mean is: “You are difficult to fit in.” He knows it’s not entirely his fault per se. Younger children just have a much better shot at this than fully grown teenagers. Maybe if he was a girl at least he’d stand half a chance, but Tommy isn’t small or nice or cute. He’s tall and broad and he hides his feelings behind a scowl. He looks like trouble and everybody knows it.
Or: Tommy has a complicated relationship with feelings of love. His childhood wasn't exactly full of it and he lost love in many ways over the years. Family has always been a touchy subject, friends are complicated and not as reliable as they seem. Romantic love is on a whole other level entirely. One thing he's learned by now: Love is always, always conditional.
