It couldn't be true. Hope had to be lying.
Lizzie caught her breath and turned to her twin sister. She and Josie went through the Police Academy together. They fought tooth and nail to be partners in the FBI, and are the legacies of Alaric Saltzman, their Captain.
And make no mistake their boss will have their badges if what Hope is implying is true, so it was no surprise Josie saw nothing but pure unadulterated shock and dismay.

Finished re-reading TKAM yesterday; began re-writing my old TKAM WIP within hours. The product? This.
"When he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow. Of course, you already know the story of that one, for the most part.
You see, unlike our original suspicions, it turned out that Sheriff Tate had made a wrong judgement of Bob Ewell – that is to say, he hadn’t died, at least just yet. To everyone’s misfortune, he’d survived falling on that damn kitchen knife. Hurt, he was, most definitely, and it’s said he probably woulda died if it hadn’t been for all the hate in his heart. Ewells were like cockroaches though; living outta pure spite at the end of the day, and good lord was Bob a spiteful man if ever I’d met.
Such a thing was only proven again in that following year’s Summer. That was the first time I’d seen my father as nothing more than an ordinary man. But I can’t get ahead of myself just yet, for the time between that night Ewell attacked us – Jem and me – and the night he got a warranted taste of his own medicine, our lives had changed as dramatically as the Autumn winds."

Inspired by reading ABCs of Atticus Finch on Tumblr last night by user @/cowboy-lover69 (what a name 😅). Here's my take regarding my TKAM OC, aka Atticus's second wife.
Important to Note: I hc that Atticus has, let's just say, ~trauma~ in regards to women; hence him taking so long to settle and marry. Beth also has trauma akin to that of what *actually* happened between Bob and Mayella Ewell in TKAM (if you catch my drift).
So ig warnings for mentions of SA. Nothing detailed. Just general trauma-bonding.
Oh, and Bob Ewell survives in my TKAM universe. Because plot <3
