Summary
Song Lan had been a normal guy struggling to get by in the modern era. 3 jobs and school in the evenings. He hardly spoke to anyone, keeping to himself. Everything was normal until he had been killed by a demonic cultivator. Now he has to adjust to his undeath with the help of Wen Ning and WangXian.
Wei Wuxian is a problem solver. He can see Song Lan struggling and he has the best solution : get him laid (or at least get him a date with someone that will love him for who he is).

But Jin Ling isn't going to lie down and give up either, no he's going on a quest to kill the Yiling Laozu and break the curse.
It was never going to be easy, but Jin Ling never expected it to be this complicated. No one is sticking to their assigned roles in this tale. The Ghost General is helpful and gentle, Hanguang-jun is not interested in vanquishing evil, no one is paying much attention to Nie Huaisang, not to mention whatever is going on with the Yiling Laozu himself...

Wen Ning bonds with Hanguang-jun over rabbits and music. Wei-gongzi keeps on calling him pretty. He's not pretty though, he's a fierce corpse. Hanguang-jun and Wei-gongzi seem to disagree.

'Shui Yu,' is the name of this strange teenager who has it out for him. Yunmeng Jiang's loud disciples call him 'shixiong!' and his face becomes like that of sunlight, the curve of his mouth and the softening of his eyes sometimes reminding Wen Ning of his sister, Jie who always looked at him with a mixture of exasperation and fondness whenever he came home covered in bruises from practising archery. He's well-liked by his martial siblings, his laughter echoing around whenever somebody says something particularly amusing, sternness cracking over to let amusement pass by. Yet whenever Wen Ning and he are in the same area, there is coldness in those eyes, nothing but a strong dislike.
