The fight for freedom is over - the Mushroom Kingdom has fallen.
Mario Mario's efforts were not enough this time, and Bowser has seized control of the world. Ruling over the ruins, he finds himself lacking purpose. With no heroic plumbers to battle and all life in his scaly palm, what does he do next? Power only matters when you have a way to use it, or people to use it against.
Luigi finds himself summoned to the Koopa King's side, Bowser's plans impossible to read and all the more terrifying for it. The only way out of his situation? Through it.
What harm could Bowser possibly cause him, after all?

These two heroes are usually envisioned as arch-enemies, but that's all in the past. Now, they're just friendly rivals with each other that occasionally bring their friends together in order to contend against each other to do some friendly competition. But something new has appeared, a threat that's more dangerous to their worlds than Bowser and Dr. Eggman combined. A villain that's managed to combine the two worlds into one and one that's proven to be nigh-invincible to both of the hero's attacks. Now thrust into a new adventure forcibly, Mario and Sonic must gather up friends and foes alike in order to muster up the strength in numbers to defeat this new foe. But along the way, they see familiar faces all around, some of which being... less pleasant than others.
