Summary
After being cleared of any injuries from the warehouse fire, Buck is surprised to find his parents waiting for him at the firehouse. He didn't particularly want to see them, not after showing him they didn't love him, after finding out about an older brother he never knew existed, how they were treating Maddie. But he was tired of feeling hurt by their choices and words. They hadn't ever really been his parents, anyway.
Maybe it was time to show them as much.

Summary
Buck ends up working some shifts at a few other stations after the tsunami. Not on purpose, like, he didn't go seeking out the other stations. He just sort of fell into them. And he wasn't trying to keep it a secret, but everyone was crazy busy again after the tsunami was all cleared up and they were back to work and normal routines.
He just wasn't expecting Bobby to more or less drag him back to the 118 and confront him about working elsewhere without talking to him first. Or Maddie being there and complaining that he didn't take the fire marshal position.
Or finding out she was talking to their parents.

Summary
He’s been through this song and dance too many times to count, with far worse people, and he knows every step by heart.
It's a testament to his upbringing- his ability to keep his cool in spite of whatever fire is burning just below the surface.
But he's learned well that there is a limit to what even a saint could endure, and Bobby Nash is far from a saint.buck's heroics have landed him in the hospital yet again.
bobby's getting real tired of watching the kid get hurt.
he's even more tired of margaret and phillip buckley thinking they can keep getting away with doing the bare minimum for their son.(aka my humble attempt at writing a scene where bobby finally tells buck's parents how he really feels)

Summary
It seems irrevocable - the number of times Evan had been in the hospital before he had turned 12 - the number of times Maddie had called him in the last few years to tell them, keep them updated - Evan is climbing a high rise that can collapse at any second, Evan is trapped under a 100-tonne engine, Evan is coughing up blood - his son was going to die.
His son was always going to die, and he was always going to be the one burying him, not the other way around, and there was nothing he could do about it.Or
Philip Buckley sees his son lying like the dead in the ICU and has some feelings about it. -

Summary
Buck was just doing his best to focus on his work and not think about the shitty dinner with his parents, Maddie, Chim, and Albert. He was doing good at distracting his mind ... until he parents walked into the station. Forcing him into a conversation he didn't want to have. And he is just so ... so very done with them. He wasn't a little kid anymore.
It's really their own fault for saying so many horrible things about and to him around his chosen family.

Summary
Evan bit back a sob. He was leaving. He wasn’t getting left behind. This time, he was in control, and he wouldn’t have to be the one to beg them to stay.
He won’t have to stare at the blank, unloving walls of his home where his parents walk unseeingly, with haunted eyes. He won’t have to swallow back the hurt, the jealousy, the betrayal he felt when Maddie would inevitably leave him behind again.
And then Evan slammed on the gas and never looked back.
or 5 times Evan tried to cope with feeling alone/being left behind 1 time he got to be the one to leave

Summary
Original fanfic by Chancy_Lurking
Original synopsis:
“I’m not walking you down the aisle,” his father says, like it’s supposed to be a threat.Buck is confused first, which is telling, in hindsight. “I wasn’t going to ask you to?” is out of his mouth before he even recognizes the disapproving twist of his father’s mouth, the hardness in his eyes.
“So, that’s it then? You’ve replaced your family with people who will let you throw your life away,” his father accuses, scoffing as he steps into Buck’s space. “You think they care about you? You think they’ll stick around when they realize how difficult you are?”
(Buck and Eddie are happily engaged, and Buck... genuinely forgot to tell his parents. They are displeased to say the least.)

Summary
When Evan was 18 years old, she learned that she had been sentenced to die since before she was born. On her 30th birthday, on the exact moment that she took her first breath, she would die a most horrible death. Overall she was okay with that as long as she managed to do two things before she died:
1) Save her sister from her abusive marriage.
2) Do the most good that she possibly could.
Once both of those things happened she would be happy with what she had done with her life. Maybe in her next life she would have better luck. That was all she could ever hope for. The odds of her breaking her unbreakable curse would be to find true love, let alone multiple kinds of true love; impossible.
Afterall, the universe had made it clear since before she had even been conceived that she was impossible to love. -

Summary
“Hey, Athena,” Buck says, same as he always has. “Bobby’s in his office, you want me to get him?”
Athena shakes her head; there’s a look on her face that he can’t figure out. He’s seen it before but never directed at him. “He knows I’m here. Is there somewhere we can talk for a minute? Maybe down in the bunkroom?”
Buck’s eye finally lands on the manilla folder in her hand. The sight of it makes his mouth go dry. “What’s going on? Is this about the missing kid in the hospital from this morning? I didn’t think there would be an investigation about it, he didn’t get very far.”
Athena looks between Hen and Ravi then over to Ramirez and John who are playing a video game on the couch a few feet away. “Let’s take this somewhere a little more private, Buck.”

Summary
Buck’s eyes blinked open, groaning a little as the world seemed to spin around him. He was confused, not quite sure what was going on. Hadn’t he been asleep? Hadn’t he been curled up against Eddie, the soft sound of his boyfriend’s breath guiding him off to sleep.
He heard a noise from down the hall and got up, blinking in confusion that he didn’t seem to be in Eddie’s house anymore. He stumbled a little as he made his way down the hallway, the world still spinning slightly.
When he reached the end of the hallway, he was even more confused to find his parents sitting there, disappointed frowns on both of their faces.
