Levi thinks the first half of the movie isn’t so bad. It’s just a group of predictable college kids on a road trip through the middle of shit-fuck nowhere. Their van breaks down in the middle of the night, typical. They send one scrawny looking fuck out into the corn-field with a dingey flashlight while the other overly-busty women stay huddled in the vehicle with another dude who seems oblivious, too fucking high to think straight. He’s obviously the comedic relief but Levi doesn’t find it too funny that the creeper has done nothing but make sexual innuendos.
It’s fine, really, it is. Right until the first jumpscare.

Levi was so nervous. He’d been working on Erwin’s present for months now, and he wasn’t sure at this point if it looked good anymore. He’d been making a scrapbook of all their photos from when they first started dating five years ago.
It was Erwin’s birthday today, and Levi was going back and forth with Hange on the phone, worried that Erwin wouldn’t like the gift. He just felt self-conscious about the whole thing, and he didn’t know if Erwin was going to like it.
“Levi,” Hange insisted. “Erwin will love it. Just because you put thought and effort in, he’ll think it’s really sweet.”
“He’s gonna think I’m a total wuss,” Levi muttered. “Who the hell makes a fucking scrapbook? I feel silly for making something like that… for thinking he’s gonna like it.”

Erwin gritted his teeth, his blood boiling now at the sight of someone flirting so openly with his boyfriend. He didn’t blame Levi, as the shorter man apparently couldn’t tell when he was being flirted with. In fact, Erwin had had to tell Levi straight out that he was flirting with him when they first started to take an interest in each other because he simply couldn’t pick up on the social cues of flirting.
