A Ercole Visconti se le otorgó una caja musical a los cuatro años de edad. La suave sinfonía que proviene de esta lo ha acompañado desde entonces, secando sus lágrimas y sanando sus ansiedades.
Ahora es padre de familia, ha tenido un hermoso hijo con su amada Giulia Marcovaldo pero las cosas no han ido mejorando, no solo para él sino para la pelirroja que ha sido molestada en Génova por la llegada de su bebé, así que aquella caja sigue siendo su consuelo.
Sin embargo, sus problemas no parecen terminar cuando Ercole descubre que su familia fallecida guardó horribles secretos de los que él no estaba enterado y todo gira alrededor de esa caja musical.
