Summary
It's been a month.
A month since Buck watched as Eddie closed the last of his two used suitcases, a small smile tugging at his lips.
A month since Buck watched as Eddie hugged Bobby and Hen and Chim in his arms, whispering promises and holding back tears.
A month since Buck watched as Eddie turned his back to him, brushing away a stray tear, as the glass doors slid close behind him, Buck shivering with the reminiscent of the longest, warmest, tightest embrace Eddie had ever given him.
A month since Buck watched as his life flew away.

The notification is waiting for Buck, mocking him with the little cartoon of his best friend, as he finishes his shift. Eddie is, notably, not with him. He wants Chris back almost as badly. He just wishes that Eddie would have talked to him before putting in for leave and booking a one-way flight to Texas.-or-

Summary
Eddie Diaz has always had a strong sense of self. He's never really doubted himself. That is, until he's in a near death experience and old feelings he had repressed come back to the surface. Eddie forgets how to control his emotions and thoughts. So he resorts to his old coping techniques. Running.
OR
Eddie gets into a work accident where he is ran over by a car and goes into a coma. He is flashed with memories of Buck and Chris, Shannon and the army. He wakes up and realises his feelings. He begins to distance himself and a lot of depressive episodes ensue.
TW: This fanfic includes different self harming techniques, not just physical. There will be a TW at the beginning of each chapter, and a shortened version of the chapter will be added in the summary if you do not wish to read the full chapter. There is also a bit of violence, which is mainly found in Eddie's near death experience. Eddie also has extreme religious trauma and guilt. This includes extreme internalised homophobia. YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS. I also really hope you enjoy this fic, because after all of the extreme angst, there is extreme fluff and good times!

Summary
He lay in bed at night and he wished he didn’t, but he thought about Buck. Wondered who was touching Buck. Who was seeing him in that way. He wondered if Buck felt satisfied at the end of it or if he just felt more alone. He wondered if Buck needed him and wasn’t saying so.
He wondered what it must be like to have Buck that way. To hold him close, to hear the sounds he’d let slip when he was too distracted to be in his own head. He wondered how he’d look when he came undone, and if the person he was with could even begin to fathom how lucky they were.
But no, Buck just went back to eating his cereal, like he hadn’t just confessed to something that made Eddie’s whole body burn with too many feelings to articulate.
He was humming, happy as a pig in mud.
And as weird as he’d been with Eddie, Eddie found himself asking: “Sorry, are you humming Losing My Religion?”

Buck fucks, Eddie befriends a priest, and the whole thing burns to the ground.

“Sorry. I’m sorry. It’s just – I can’t believe you.” Well, that’s rich. “I tell you we’re werewolves and your only question is if there’s something you should do. You don’t worry about what we could do to you, you worry about making it worse for him? Only you, Buck.”
He sounds so fond that Buck forgets to be offended.
“Well, is there?”
“Cuddle him,” Eddie answers. “He’ll let you know if there’s something he wants.”
“How?” Buck asks. “I don’t speak wolf, Eds.”
“You’ll understand him,” Eddie says. Like Buck is supposed to get what it means. He doesn’t, for the record. “You’ll be fine and if not, just call for me, okay? I’ll hear you.”
“Do you have super-hearing?”
“Ah, so he does have questions.”
“I’m tired. This is bullying.”Or the one where Eddie and Chris are werewolves and just cuddle with Buck.

Summary
Buck and Tommy were on a date. That’s what that was.
It made a lot more sense now, in hindsight. The way Buck has been acting so nervous. Of course he was nervous. This was his first date with a guy. It was different than what he was used to. Not to mention that it was so new. Something he was still grappling with.
Maybe he was rushing into it. Maybe Eddie should have told him to give it a second to process before reaching out to Tommy again.
But the way Buck looked when he was talking about him. He looked happy. Nervous in the way that’s exciting. Like this was something he was ready for. So Eddie told him to call him. Like a good friend would.
Why is he regretting it so much now?or: What sparks as a weird feeling Eddie has about Buck's new relationship sends him on a path of realization and self discovery he never thought he'd go through.

There was something in the air, almost like a sizzling, that made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up.
Buck seemed to notice this, too, at least Eddie saw his best friend look up at the sky in wonder. Then, everything happened at once.
Before Eddie knew what hit him – quite literally – he was thrown off the ladder truck by a shock wave.

Or: Buck is not the only one that gets hurt in 6x10. (Because, really, have you seen Eddie fall off the truck?)

Summary
“I haven’t been a very good friend to him.”
“Okay.”
The lack of judgment - as promised - in Frank’s tone is what enables Eddie to continue.
“I’ve been pushing him away. I can feel myself doing it but I can’t stop it, it’s like watching someone else doing it. No,” he shakes his head “no that’s not fair. I know it’s me, I know I’m the one doing it but it’s like what I want and what I do are two different things. I know I shouldn’t do this and yet, it’s like now that I’m on this track, I can’t get off. I don’t know how.”
or Chris leaves, Eddie blows up his life, goes back to therapy and maybe some repressed feelings resurface

Summary
The one where Buck comes out to Eddie and suddenly maybe things aren't as straight-forward as Eddie once thought. Pun intended.
***
“I kinda can’t stop thinking about him,” Buck replies with a smile.
And that tension is right back. That feeling in Eddie’s chest is setting in and he hates himself for it. He's fine with Buck being gay- or whatever. These feelings he’s experiencing right now, he doesn’t understand, so he instinctually shoves them down, into the deepest parts of his mind, where he hopefully won’t encounter them again. Back to Buck. Back to best-friend mode.
“Well, you know what I think?” Eddie starts, and he knows Buck can probably see the heaviness on his face, “You should call him.” And for some reason when he says this he feels like he’s laying himself down in front of oncoming traffic, shooting himself in the foot, guiding himself to the slaughterhouse, sacrificing. That’s what it feels like. Sacrificing. Saying these words to Buck feels so strangely familiar to Eddie. Like sacrificing his job for Christopher, or himself for his country, or his happiness for a ‘proper’ family, or himself for his God. But all the doom and weight slowly lift when Buck smiles up at him.
“Really?”

Summary
The frustrating thing is that Frank's advice is ridiculous, but it's helped Eddie more than it's humiliated him in the past. So when he suggests that Eddie go out and do an activity that's just for himself to enjoy, he's willing to give it a go.
It's only when everything is said and done, that Eddie will wonder if the series of revelations was part of Frank's plan all along.

Summary
“Eddie, we don’t live in a just world."
“I know that,” Eddie scoffs. Of course the world isn’t just, or fair. Nothing in his life has ever been fair- and it wasn’t hard to figure it out.
“I don’t think you do.” Bobby took the rag from Eddie, dropping it into the bucket of soapy water, forcing Eddie to pay attention. “You think people get what they deserve and deserve what they get, and you’re trying to even the scales out of your favor.”
-
Or, Eddie figures he can pay penance for being gay and the fallout that's happened because of it. Over a 24-hour shift, Bobby and Buck try to show him he's allowed to want the things he wants, and the universe doesn't care what he thinks he deserves.

Summary
"Oh he talked to me alright; yelled at me actually, in both English and Spanish." Cringing, Tommy stepped forward, reaching out, unsure if Buck would even want his comfort right now.
"Clearly I overstepped, but I was worried about you. You could barely string a sentence together when I left this morning." Groaning, Buck turned back around, swatting Tommy's hand away with a shake of the head.
"I appreciate that you were worried about me Tommy, but you've only made things worse."
"Ev-" Tommy stepped forward again, frowning further when Evan only fell back against the locker room wall, shaking his head with a shaky breath.
"No, I just, I need time to think. You can go home tonight, I'll call you in the morning."
Or
Buck isn't handling the first tsunami anniversary without Christopher well, and while trying to fix things, Tommy and Eddie end up making things worse.
