Jayce’s eyes shot open as he gasped, sitting up quickly, clutching at his chest. He looks around frantically, searching for Viktor. After a moment, he calms and takes in his surroundings. His eyes widen again as he stands slowly.

Summary
“You’re mad at me.” Jayce frowns.
“I am not mad at you. Where did you get that idea from?”
“Well – you’re feeling… something… toward me. Things have been awkward lately.”
Viktor bites his tongue, feeling caught, “That… it’s complicated.”
“It – c’mon, it doesn’t have to be,” Jayce retorts, his breath warm. Somehow, he’s closer, “Please talk to me. I’ve done something, haven’t I?”
“No – no, you haven’t.” Viktor struggles, trying to pull his arm away. Jayce only turns his body to face his own, caging Viktor between himself and the table.
The taller man’s hands hesitate only slightly, but the alcohol helps to spur him on. They gently settle against the smooth expanse of skin near the top of Viktor’s neck, where he can feel tufts of chocolate brown hair spill from behind his ears. His thumb rubs against his jaw, and Viktor’s heart seizes in his chest.

A part of her wants to look at Jayce, really look at him, and ask are you okay? But a larger part of her isn’t ready to deal with the answer. Vi imagines she already knows it, anyway, because no one she knows in this city has ever been okay, or even if they were, they certainly never will be again.
She sighs. “No sleeping in the lab tonight. You’re coming with me.”

Summary
Jayce Talis had never been to a party before, and after two months at MIT with several failed attempts at making friends under his belt, he decided he never would. He was determined to stay in that Friday and focus on his studies and think longingly about Viktor, the laid-back TA he got stuck in an elevator with last weekend. Instead, he gets dragged to a house party by his troublesome roommate. Separated from the only person he knows, he searches for any familiar face he can find, leading him to a smokey bathroom with Jinx and the party's friendly host Ekko. After an overzealous drink of mystery liquid from a red cup, Jayce finds the courage to ask about the one person he and Jinx have in common, Viktor.
