Summary
The thing about Dream and George is that there’s no such thing as secrets between them.
He can’t quite pinpoint when exactly this became the case, but he thinks it had to have been sometime between sharing an apartment and embarking on their first tour in a van. There wasn’t really room for secrets when you never got a single moment alone, and at some point it became natural to spill their guts to each other whenever they were delirious with exhaustion after staying up way too late.
He knew about the time George stole a few pounds from his mom’s purse when he was a kid and felt so bad about it that he cried and admitted it to her within an hour, just like George knows about the time he accidentally pissed the bed in the middle of the night and didn’t tell anybody. They know each other, and old secrets spill out across interstates between Orlando and Miami and Tampa.
With old secrets being fair game, new secrets were a lost cause. And that’s why Dream had kind of always been absolutely fucked when it comes to George.

Life is unfair. You can rage and push against the things that make it hard, but it'll throw you for a loop again and again until you don't know up from down. As Q is suddenly thrust into the musical spotlight, he's forced to reckon with traumas he thought he buried long ago, while also learning how to handle things like love, loss, and what he wants from his life.
OR, Wilbur and Q survive graduation and come out with a stronger relationship than ever two years after they become roommates. Things are stable for a while, all up until Q meets a childhood friend through sheer chance.

Something short circuits in his head at the notions of doll, of the notions that he's something fragile. Something pretty. Something to be well kept and toyed with. He doesn't even know what he's supposed to say because it feels so good to have it spoken so quietly, somewhat ravenously.
George presses closer until his legs are flush against the front of the amp. It's not close enough, it never has been, he doesn't know why he thought it'd be different tonight, "You know how to, don't you?"

Dream opens his mouth to protest, but the look George gives him is enough for his jaw to snap shut before even a full second passes. Instead, he grumbles something under his breath and laces his fingers between George’s.
“I’m struggling, too,” the latter continues, gently squeezing Dream’s hand. “It’s all familiar, sure, but it’s not like we’re just…pressing play on the moment we stopped so long ago. It’s fresh water, or something like that.”
Despite himself, the blond snickers. “Sorry,” is almost immediate, because he can feel the disapproving look coming his way. “I’m not laughing at you, promise. It’s just…a silly comparison, I guess. Fresh water—what are we, fish?”
“Okay, well, why don’t you come up with something then, smart guy?”
“I will,” Dream decides, a grin spreading across his face. “In fact, I’ll make a whole song out of it. Just for you. It’ll be our next big hit.”

Summary
George dances through keys, changes, and time signatures lazily, and Dream lets it wash over him. Inside George’s sound he hears the tension from before, dissipated now into small moments of dissonance and release. Dream has no idea where George is going, but he seems to have an idea of where George is now, so he takes the leap.

George, a prodigious and tempestuous pianist, just can't seem to understand why the tall saxophonist in his jazz ensemble class irks him so much. Maybe it's the fact that George can't think about anything else whenever he starts to play.
Dream, a brilliant and wild young saxophonist, just can't seem to get into the good graces of the moody pianist in his jazz ensemble class. But that certainly won't stop him from trying.
When the two musicians are paired up to write a piece together, they'll have to face each other head on, and might just figure out what it really means to play together.

“Why would I want anyone else when you’re here?” was the response, and Sapnap felt his breath hitch. Apparently it didn’t take much pushing for him to crack. “Hi, I’m Karl, and I’ve not been able to take my eyes off you since you first walked onto that stage earlier this evening.”
A drummer in a college band, Sapnap has always felt second best to the band's frontman Dream. Until one night at thier biggest show to date, he meets the eyes of a stranger across the bar, and starts to believe that maybe he could be worth something to someone after all.

The words George has been dreading since Dream stepped foot into his house. “Why did you let me stay?” Dream takes another step forward, and George is hyper aware of how close they are to each other. If George really focuses, he swears he can feel the heat from Dream’s arm against his own, from inches apart.
“Because you…looked like shit,” George says, meeting his eyes.
Dream stares unwaveringly back. “What’s the real reason, George?”
The rise and fall of the Dream Team hit Dream hard—harder than it did George and Sapnap.
Maybe here, in the pouring rain, on the front doorstep of the house that belongs to someone who might want him dead more than anyone else, he’ll get a second chance.
And Dream is certainly not opposed to groveling or begging.
